Embarrassed by Jerry Richardson again: He was one of the leaders to keep refs locked out

Mr. Richardson has brought one of the worst franchises in NFL history to the Carolinas.

How dare you question him!

Truth is, he is an out of touch fool who fields a terrible football team. I am a football fan, so I don't give a poo about his successes in business, only his success(or lack thereof) on the field.

I also hope that when we get a new owner, he will get that hideous NFL logo off our teams field.

Yes, we get it, the NFL granted us a team.

We've paid homage so how about we do what almost every other professional sports team does, and put more emphasis on the actual team.

LOL How is Mr.Richardson cheap? Have u seen the contracts he's awarded to the players the past two years?

12 million to Olindo Mare?

Come on NJP you're an "insider" you're supposed to know these things.

Giving out stupid contracts isn't much better than being cheap.

He's a kid with a twitter account. We've read his stuff, there is no surprise he doesn't actually know anything about this franchise.

The Panthers are not one of the worst franchises in the NFL - and their current ranking on the Forbes list is indisputable evidence of that.

I was in Akron, Ohio in May visiting with my girlfriends family. I started bitching about how the Panthers hadn't made the Playoffs in four years and they all started laughing at me. The Browns are an example of a horrible, horrible franchise and fan base.

I don't see how Hurney writing up stupid contracts has to do with Jerry not being cheap. All owners are ready every season to drop some serious money to sign players. That would be a very incorrect way of judging Jerry's "cheapness". He knows he has to throw some money around. If he actually cared about how this money was being spent though, he wouldn't let Hurney write up these ridiculous contracts.

What is horrible about the Brown's fanbase? They are top notch in following their team.

I laugh at people that think that because someone has hundreds of millions of dollars they should be willing to take a hit of a few million. If you won the lottery and had $200MM, and all of a sudden your gardener says he wants more money, your accountant wants more money, and your property manager wants to take home 15% instead of 9, are you gonna say oh that's fine I have a ton I don't care? No, you'll say I can find another PM, accountant, and landscaper that can all do your job at a better price. Now if you get a replacement gardener and he completely fugs up your yard, then you go back to the other guy and negotiate a new rate.

JR felt like the NFL had an unsustainable business model with the NFLPA, and stuck to his guns. He felt the refs requests were absurd (they were), and so he stuck to his guns there too. Now if it turns out that the replacements poo the bed (they did) then a new market rate has been established for the old refs because you've found nobody can do their job as well as they can.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
