Coaching/QB Observations

As I watched games Sunday, I kept being drawn to watching the HC's. Here is what I saw:

(won't even pretend to know names)

Raiders - Young coach : Attentive to all aspects of the game, carrying a clip board - making notes. Speaking constantly on his headset. Always engaging players - waiving them back from the sideline, motioning for them to hurry up. I saw a QB on the sideline one on one with a receiver going over a route and maybe what the QB was looking for in that route - not just when something good happens (high 5, laughing, etc..) this was right after an INT.

Falcons - same

NYG - veteran coach: ditto on the sideline demeanor. Ditto on the QB / WR interaction

Packers: Saw the HC down on 1 knee in a huddle with his entire offensive line! - going over some photo's and coming up with a solution?

Ravens/49ers - although a bit explosive, both coaches very involved with all aspects of the game.

Seeing a pattern? All I see when I vision the Panthers is a HC fixing someones helmet during a defensive timeout that "we" called. Shouldn't our Defensive minded HC be involved with the discussion of the defense in a critical situation?

I just don't get it.

Agreed 100%. Rivera has no fire. He acts as though a lake duck coach in the last year of his contract. Sad part is when we actually had a HC that was a lame duck in the last year of his contract, he showed more fird than energy than Rivera.. Sad

Not trying to defend Rivera but are you basing this all on short tv shots of Rivera or are you actually at the game?

Why would it matter? The cameras pan on HCs when something big happens like a TD or interception. With other coaches they get emotional and show they are involved be it screaming or smiling. Rivera stands there.

It does matter... If you are at home and watching it, you really don't have any idea what is going on over on the sideline, nor in the locker room.

You would think since he's not doing anything else he could at least manage timeouts correctly.

That whole fixing a helmet thing on the sideline makes me LOL so hard but saddens me to the fullest extent at the same time.

I'm basing it off of tv coverage of the sidelines during crucial or tense periods of the game. Rivera fixing a helmet during a timeout was a steady camera feed for the duration of the time out. The camera crew was zoomed in on him doing it while the commentators talked blah. it was in the last 2 minutes of the SeaHawks game.

I admit I'm not seeing the whole game - but during crucial periods, he looks totally disconnected from the team.

Does this guy ever do anything?? With each passing day I'm more pissed off that we've wasted another 2 (and probably 3 or 4) seasons under the wrong leadership.
