Why not find an interim OC?

There is no need to throw everyone under the bus when the biggest problem is the schemes our OC is attempting to run. They did it in Cleveland and we should do it here. I think our defense is not great but improving and I cannot believe all of a sudden our rbs are bad and our qb is bad.We actually were successful at times with the inside slants and running out of the I.

we should find that guy that was running the offense last year. it seemed to work well.

if he could ever pull his head out of his ass we might be able to find him.

This is the 2nd time in his career he has done this.I honestly do not understand what this guy is thinking.I keep thinking he will change the scheme and he has to a limited degree but when 3/4 of your plays are ineffective we have no chance to win.The players are losing confidence and the fans have lost faith .Hurney and Rivera need to grow some balls and get someone that can coach this offense.

would the new guy have to learn our playbook, or will he be bringing a whole new playbook for the players to learn?

Doesn't sound like an optimal situation for anyone to succeed. Unless it's someone on the offensive staff like shula.

Yeah, Shula! He was an awesome OC in Tampa Bay.

They averaged nearly 12 points a game.

You are acting like Rivera doesn't review and approve the game plan every damn week.

No that is what I am saying.I hold Rivera accountable as well but feel changing head coaches in the middle of the season will be difficult but bringing in an interim OC is at least something we can do to stop the bleeding now.

Its not optimal but what I am seeing is a offense that has no confidence in the OC and the scheme he is running.Sometimes you have to chose you poison.

wasn't he involved more in the offense last year and said that he was going to focus on the defense more this year?

maybe he's given chud a bit too much free reign. either way...not really effective management of his OC.

    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
    • Freeling got some reps at RT when they gave Moton a rest day--I sorta hope Freeling gets brought along slowly as you describe.  It would be better for him for reasons you provide.  We have a really good problem.
