National Media's Take on the Panthers

Is absolute garbage for the most part. Almost all of the national media is getting on Cam, like he is the sole reason the Panthers are in the dumps. Not only are they wrong about that, but they would be wrong in saying Cam is "a" reason why the Panthers are in the dumps. Have they even watched a hint of our games this year? Can they not see the crappy offense we are running in this league? All they have to do is look at our offense last year, and compare it to this year, and the light bulb will turn on in their heads. However, they refuse to do this.

Then they criticize our running backs, like they all of a sudden turned into garbage. Again if they just look at our offense this year, they will know why our running backs stinks so much. Look at the coaching national media!!!!!! I can remember how guys on NFL live and other shows on ESPN, talk about how unique our offense is. How the read option confuses defenses, and how we would be hard to stop. LOL what? A college offense is going to confuse NFL defenses? Man please. This coaching staff has sabotaged this entire season like I have never seen done before, but what really grind my gears is the national media overlooking this point. They say it's all on Cam, they say our running backs are no longer good, and our coaching staff is no where to be seen in taking any credit for any of this.

I can't wait to get rid of this coaching staff. I gave them one last chance to change things up during the bye week, and they came out with the same dribble they ran all season. Hurney's firing might actually put a fire under Rivera and Chud, they now see they are on a VERY short leash. They may actually change the offense to how things were last year, in a last ditch effort to save their jobs, but at this point I don't care. They let Cam hang out to dry, and they let this team hang out to dry, just because they thought they could make a name for themselves in revolutionizing the NFL. Even after they saw teams shut down the read option offense, they stubbornly kept at it because of their pride. Well, it backfired. Stephen A Smith is the only person so far that has actually laid blame on the right group of people. That is Ron Rivera and company.

We all saw this coming last year when everyone was in love with Cam after he put his mark on the rest of the league. Now we see what the downfalls are in having such a marquee guy

Of course, if you look at the other end of the stick, what would it be like if RGIII was in the same situation? He's the media darling right now, but what about if his luck turns to shat? Would the media be all over him and be quick to jump on him and call him a bust?

Its so unfair for them to single out Cam as the main problem with this team.

The media would be all over Shanahan if this was happening to the Redskins. Partly because of his dealings with McNabb, Rex Grossman, and Jake Plummer. Yet they would definitely attack Shanahan versus attacking RGIII and the players.

My thing is it is so evident the coaching has killed this team, yet their names aren't mentioned at all. I bet everyone right now, if Rivera was fired today, the media would blame it all on Cam.

Like I've said NUMEROUS times on here:

Cam made many "experts" and "analysts" look like fools last year.

He's struggling this year and not exactly making it easier on himself with his personality. These analysts/experts are piling on him now because it's easy to do so and helps them feel better about calling him bust a year ago.

I'd like to send these experts film of one play from yesterday. We had just completed a nice pass to the sidelines to pick up a first down and were showing signs of life.

1st down play...Cam in the shotgun with 28 lined up in typical RO formation (next to, and very close to the QB, as opposed to a bit further off to the side which tips it's a pass play). We leave DeMarcus Ware unblocked as Olsen goes out on a pattern and Gross blocks to the inside. 3 yard loss. It's now 2nd and 13.

That play is a perfect example of what is wrong with our season.

It's just the business, man. Don't look at it. They don't follow the team, they don't watch the games. They make assumptions on very little information.

Just gotta believe that our players will make it right with the right coaching.

This type of stuff is bad for a team, but it's a tough lesson that can make them better down the road..

This is a perfect analysis. The thing is though it still sucks to see a young man methodically broken down by a bunch of people that can't do what he does. They talked about him calling a girl sweetheart in a press conference and how wrong that was in the CO. The networks are foaming at the mouth over this. It was funny that Merrill Hoge didn't get any airtime on ESPN all last year after his predictions on Cam. Now you see him all the time again. We know its not all Cam and hopefully he knows it and won't let all this crush his spirit. Rivera is about to get his just like Mike Singletary.

Oddly enough:

Has there ever been a player in the history of the NFL where a "sophmore slump" was more predicted, questioned and assumed than on Cam before the damn season ever started?

I agree, but to be fair, Cam broke a lot of records in his rookie season. He threw the most yards a rookie QB has ever thrown in his first game. So lofty expectations were put on his shoulders, and that brought on all the sophmore slump talk. Yet it's criminal what the media is doing to this kid right now. It's even more criminal how this staff has not spoken up on Cam's behalf. I would respect Rivera right now if he owned up to his mistake with this offense in one of his press conferences.

    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks are Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team) seem to be locks. Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
    • I had this discussion with my buddy yesterday afternoon. If we start this season very slow(especially with the schedule being what it is) and then "rally" in the second half to get to 4-7 wins, I am already gonna be pretty heated at the staff overall. I know we are a very bad roster but I am not gonna keep excusing these slow season starts WITH late season rallies. That's a coaching staff problem, IMO. It's more excusable to just stink gate to gate, IMO. At least you can understand why.
