Jerry Richardson or Danny Morrison?

Mr. Scot

JR doesn't have many years left.

If he wants to live to see another Super Bowl with the Panthers in it, he has to get this GM hire right.

Create a committee of former successful NFL executives. Have them determine the qualifications required, ID and interview potential candidates, and make the final recommendations to JR.

I don't feel like you need a lot of football knowledge to determine if someone is qualified to run an NFL GM position. The GM himself is the one who needs to be knowledgable. I feel like Danny Morrison is more than capable of hiring the right person. Morrison is a guy that handles the business side of the organization.. and I classify this as a business decision. Hell, any one of us can look at a person's track record, ie., who the potential GM has worked for in the past, which GMs has he learned from, what has he contributed to that organization and what he can offer our organization. Interview highly respected potential GMs around the league, and we will weed them out slowly but surely. Morrison is the right guy.

Richardson along with a consultant he brings in to assist with the decision.

The consultant should be along the lines of one of these "old football minds" that everyone wants to coach that I think would make a bad coach / GM choice. No matter what their specific philosophies are they will be able to help identify qualities in a potential GM that will be important.

I still believe Richardson wants to win and I believe he'll spend the money if he has to. I also think he'll need a little help if we're going to be sure this hire is right.

JR will probably make the decision but i had rather have Danny Morrison make it. Morrison would, in my opinion make a selection with his head and not his heart, the way JR has been known to do on occasion. Though my guess is that it will be a joint decision, with JR naturally having the final say.

If what some folks have said is correct, and Marty was nothing more than a JR hand puppet, then I would definately want DM making the decision. Otherwise I think we have a very good chance of having a new gm who is nothing more than another JR sock puppet, ready to fall on his sword for all of JR s bad decisions.

You really have to wonder about the timing of this Marty firing - in the grand scheme of this season at least- what the hell does it accomplish except make it appear that you are doing something?

    • Ohio State no. 8 won it all last year.  No. 6 Penn State and no. 7 Notre Dame advanced to the semi-final. This year no. 7 Ole Miss is going to win it all.
    • agreed.  Lack of games/opportunity makes him a non-factor in OROTY talk.  He is just now getting the stage where there is legit film on him.  Takes awhile to really see how guys react to all the different scenarios and to find the real weak spots on a QB's play in an O.
    • Oh boy how the tables have turned...the passion and extent at which you defend Shough would make even the staunchest Bryce fanboys blush.  The bold part is especially straight from their playbook.  Even if someone here were to withhold giving Shough props, it's pretty understandable as a Panthers fan.  What's quite odd is becoming the biggest stan of our most hated rival's starting QB.  I don't think even Saints fans drool over him this hard. For the record I think this talk about "stans" and "fanboys" is cringe AF and I'm admittedly being rather hyperbolic because this is exactly the kind of discourse and language you personally love to engage in and it's fun to play in the mud from time to time.  There is absolutely no world where you do not meet your own criteria of a "Super Stan" for Shough with how loosely you apply that label to people for Bryce in here.  You're like the Final Boss of Super Stans.
