So I tune into talk radio a few minutes ago...

I turned off the radio as soon as Marc James went on his Cam Newton/Andrew Luck rant. Especially when they started talking about whether or not the new GM should look at getting rid of Cam. As if a new GM is going to make that call.

You mean it doesn't make total sense to get rid of the greatest rookie and freak in NFL history after year 2? Especially when guys like Alex Smith get 8 years? Marc with a "c" has literally lost his mind.

He's the leader of this team................act like it.

As a Panther fan........... that was an embarrasing press conference.

You're a complete idiot. Please tell me how was that press conference embarassing? Funny how beat writers like Jonathan Jones and Bill Voth find this WAY overblown. Keep believing into what ESPN and sports talk radio is feeding you.

He's a young quarterback on a team with a head coach who doesn't actually know he is a head coach.

The firing of Hurney was a long time coming. Pretending otherwise is just ridiculous.

You watched a different press conference than I did. I saw the one where a 23 year old has to stand up there and take responsibility for the team's 1-5 start. As usual, he shouldered the primary responsibility, whether deserved or not. He didn't throw anyone under the bus, unless you are one of those that want to over analyze his every word.

And no, he is not the leader of the team. Ron Rivera is supposed to be the leader of the team, not some 2nd year QB. Is Ponder the leader of the Vikes? Is Locker the leader of the Titans? Stop comparing him to Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or some other 12 year vet.

But is he really? Last time I checked there wasn't a C on his jersey. There is a reason he wasn't designated a captain by his teammates. Me first guys don't make the cut.

...and all they are talking about is Cam Newton. The same thing happened earlier today when I watched NFL network.

Somebody please explain to me why Hurney gets fired, and all they talk about is Cam Newton? Please, because I don't get it.

What am I missing?

Talking about Hurney doesn't do them any good.

They want readers, viewers and ears. That's it. Cam is a media lightning rod....they will turn the norm into something different bc it sells.

Outside of 1 throw Cam played a damn good game Sunday. National talk doesn't want to look at the reality of it.....they see a L.....and that means they will spin a good outing as clear evidence of a struggling QB.

Outside of the Giants game. Newton hasn't been bad in reality.....he has just been a standard young QB.

I mean compare Cam 22 games in vs someone like Eli and only look at there job (not what others on the team has done).....

The "media" is a joke

    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
    • I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.
