Cam Newton needs to be treated like Alex Smith

You are not getting that type of production from your running backs because you are tailoring your offense around Cam Newton. They are running the spread option BECAUSE their quarterback is Cam Newton. They bought into the hype and forgot that football is football. Carolina is 1-6 over the last two years when Newton is the leading rusher. The running backs are not producing because the offense is more of a gimmick than anything else. Like I said. Line up in the "I", run the football, treat your quarterback like any other struggling second year player, and things will improve.

And as far as Newton's passing numbers...he threw for 300+ yards in 3 of his first 4 games. He has done so EXACTLY 1 time since.

so who designs the offense?

Going back to the first few games of last year is hilarious. No training camp, no film on Newton or the Carolina offense...and they played a lot of playground football and put up some great stats. Is reality sinking in yet??? It should be. How many games has Carolina won with Newton at QB when a running back was not the leading rusher?

^^That is playground football? Tell me this, why hasn't Bradford rebounded? Is it because defenses didn't have film on him too? Or why is Stafford slumping is it because Lions were playing "backyard" football last season? Get the fug outta here you imbecile.

Did you see that potential game-winning pass that went straight into the dirt in the Seahawks game?

How about the pass that flew over Stewart's head before Lafell's TD against the Cowboys?

How about that interception in the endzone?

What about Cam's inconsistent accuracy in the short-passing game?

How about Cam holding onto the ball too long and getting sacked?

How about Cam locking onto Smitty and failing to scan the field?

How about when Cam fails to notice that Greg Olsen is wide open?

How about when Cam always fails to look for the checkdown?

How about all the fail screens that Cam throws too high?

Face it, man. It's not just the play-calling. He's regressing because of the play-calling. Chud is preparing him poorly. The read option should not be emphasized if we want our quarterback to pass like a professional quarterback.

Look back at what Prisco said and warren moon, this option stuff is causing cam to lose reps as a conventional QB, it's messing up with his footwork in multiple ways and crossing his feet up which are the main reasons for his innacuracies. The "creativity" has gone so far that in my opinion it's more predictable than creative at this point and, like many others have said, it's hurting cam's overall development as a QB. Now cam has to be better in the clutch as well, no excuses for that but chud is doing him no favors by calling three straight pass plays in a goalline situation either. Point is, yes, cam needs to be better but chud is giving him no help at all in the playcalling.

Meh...still better than your lover boy Alex Smith, who has only thrown for 300+ yards 3 times in 8 years. You ever stop and think, that if we had the No.1 Defence, Cam could just dink and dunk to inflate his artificial QBR and then be looked at as Elite to people like you.

Go to the "I" formation. Run the football. Take decisions out of Newton's hands. Cam Newton may become a great quarterback one day. He is NOT a great quarterback right now. This whole offense was designed around Newton and it is backfiring mightly. It is a fiasco that is going to cost Rivera his job. I think that is unfortunate, because I believe Ron Rivera is a good coach. He just bought into the Cam Newton "quarterback revolution" nonsense.

You need to be treated like a redheaded stepchild

Cam Newton is the reason we're actually in the games we've played. Bad thread is bad, and you fail at basic football knowledge....
