The Kemba Walker thread

i was a skeptic of him all of last season and still think that he has a 2 guard mentality in an undersized 1 guard's body.

He played really well tonight and is really, visibly maturing as a player...and I am really excited to see if he can build off opening night.

On the other hand, I really think he needs to look to dump off to someone wide open, those 18 foot floaters are gonna go ice cold on some nights and it's gonna be really ugly when that happens.

....but hey, win's a win. can't argue with that.

This new system with Dunlap coaching is designed around Kemba. He is going to be a star in this system and put up huge numbers. I hope he keeps it up. He, Hendersom, and MKG on the court together looks awesome. Would be cool if we got a high pick and some how got Nerlens Noel or Cody Zeller to play the 4. We'd have such a sick starting line up.

No one can't argue that Kemba is a two guard. He's not or never going to be you Chris Paul or Steve Nash PG. Kemba is in the mold of a Westbrook, Jennings, Monta Ellis and DRose.

And I really think that we should utilize him to his best skills, which is shooting the ball rather than trying to make him pick out the defense.

Agree. Anthony David has looked great in his two short games. If Nerlens can be as athletic as Davis, it should be fun seeing him in a Charlotte uniform. Zeller also should be really fun. He's not as athletic as Davis and is more of an offensive player, something like Pau Gasol but it would any of those two would help us a great deal in the paint.

If we do land a high pick (i hope we dnt fug this up) and get a Noel, Zeller or even a Shabazz and McAdoo, do not rule out MJ being much more aggressive and going after a free agent.

This.

Just think of we get a high pick or one of the players mentioned above and with some cap space pick up a notable player who can either start or contribute next year. Things might be turning around in a few years.

I see great things in the near future for the Bobcats. I think we are going to be the new Thunder in a few years. I'm excited. We will get the scrubs off our roster soon and have tons of money to spend on good free agents. We could also have 3 first round picks in 2014 I think. If we can get a good young core and bring in good veteran FAs we are going to be in good shape.

I think that once he really gets the point guard position, the guy is going to be a star. He's fast, he's starting to make his shots, and he's feisty.

Also, I like that small line-up that Dunlap is running, with Walker at the 1, Henderson at the 3, and MKG at the 4.

Another also, Bismack sucks.

Yea, Im really hoping that Biyombo can/will improve but I think he's really proving to me that he's closer to a bust. Hes really clumsy and seemed like he has heavy feet. Also very weak hands. I'm not going to expect anything big from him on the offensive side bc I know or think that he's not going to progress at it but I do hope that if anything, he will be a great defender.

Last year many and I were comparing him to Ibaka. I think we should probably save the comparison for a little longer.

I'm late to the party but I think Kemba is going to be a GREAT PG once we add some guys who can consistently make shots. If you watch the beginning of the two games, and even when he was in last year, he can make some sick passes and can open up shooting lanes with his penetration. Unfortunately, everyone on our team struggles with either catching the ball or putting it in the basket once he gets it to them. This was extremely obvious in the Pacers game. He made some great passes that should have been easy assists. For example, he drove the lane and dished for the easy dunk/layup to Biyombo twice. One time Biyombo didn't catch it at all. The other, he missed the easy dunk. Another case was his pass to Mullens, who proceeded to airball a midrange shot. Once this happened, you could tell Kemba was getting frustrated and tried to do everything himself. That's when he become more inefficient.

    • And its two fold from there, we knew we were going to stink next year, we knew he wasnt going to play right away and we knew the 2025 rb class was absolutely fuging loaded.  So none of it made a lick of sense
    • Here for the lively debate but don’t devolve into “you don’t know the game” stuff. ..with that PSA over, I lean more to the it was a mistake camp myself.  It wasn’t a good move. Many people reference Frazier but it is was a few guys. I thought Sainristil would have been perfect for us. Although I will say, I don’t mind taking RBs high depending on the talent. It was him being injured and his talent relative to the other RBs in his tier that makes me less than thrilled about it.
    • If you're insinuating Bryce Young is the only player people here have been critical of we don't even need to discuss any further because folks who have actually seen the threads knows that's factually incorrect. That's the issue and where the disconnect begins. You perceive an honest assessment and basic straightforward acknowledgment that while we can like the player on a personal level ultimately the pick was a mistake given what we know now and the other prospects that were available. None of that is the personal slight you perceive it to be. Honest discussion is not doom and gloom. If someone wants to reject the reality that is front of them in favor of another that is more convenient for their POV that is certainly their prerogative. What I'm trying to tell you is you are never going to find the dialogue you seek as long as this is your basis for the framework of discussion about our team. I'm not asking you to leave. I do believe you bring legitimate value here. I'm simply offering you an alternative if you insist on rolling out this same approach when the season rolls out. Because although optimism is high right now sooner or later we might hit a bump in the road. And conversations will likely get the opposite of glowing positivity. But that's alright. That's the rollercoaster of sports fandom. We'll survive.
