Bingo

Good lord what have we become.

I understand what you mean but I am here to tell you that this line of thinking is having way more harm than good. Every generation has its defining characteristics. The Millennial generation is a prime example. Previously the ideas of sportsmanship and fairplay were taught through self-sacrifice, hard work, determination etc that a child would get through sports.

Current ideas like not keeping score, excessive penalizing of embarrassing or unsportsmanlike acts, or give everyone a trophy are effectively killing competition. They also seem to have a created a generation of youths that feel a sense of entitlement in life and do not understand the when life is unfair.

In short the problem is not that the kid celebrated his victory over another. The problem is the desire to shield the other kids from his excellence for fear that they can not achieve it themselves.

i'm willing to bet the school has a strict rule for td celebrations, and this story just got the hits for mentioning cam newton.

there's a rule in place for sc hs football. certain factors determine the severity of the penalty.

a cam newton superman pose when the score is 50-0 will get you thrown out.

bottom line...don't do it.

Kid breaks rules and makes the game about himself = ok

Ref following protocol = making the game about himself & = wrong.

LOL at peoples "logic"

I think it should have only been a penalty honestly.

FWIW my son always does a little celebration after he scores in soccer, and so does the other striker....no one ever really says anything.

The ref didn't follow protocol though.... The ref went overboard. That's why people are saying he made it about himself. The penalty would have been fine; the ref made it about himself when he threw the kid out. The times they are a changing; get used to it.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
