Thanksgiving

One of my favorite holidays. Centered around food, family, and football. And beer.

This year I'm running in the Turkey Trot at Southpark. I've always wanted to do this, I'm doing the 8K. Build up a huge appetite and then go destroy some nice beers, turkey and stuffing (dressing, whatever). Staying close to home.

What wild plans for the day do ya'll have? Hope nobody's traveling, travel safe if you are.

I honestly hate it..... I have to go between two families..my family is boring and ultra right-wing... all they talk about is how Obama isn't really an American and in between the appetizers, main course and dessert..don't you worry...there will be plenty of racial slurs *sigh*

My husbands family is pretty cool..but I'm so full from going to my family's debacle that I can't start gulping wine to make it all go away

I tried so hard to "go out of town" this year to our families so I could just stay home and cook for once for just us...but NOOOOOO my stupid husband won't let me

I envy those of you who get to watch football and drink at home...I HATE YOU! :((

Politics should be off limits at family gatherings. You should make a rule.

Most of my family is pretty right-wing and universally hate Obama. Except my sister. Very liberal. As in, she lives in Chapel Hill liberal. She's very outspoken, won't hold her tongue, Throw in some alcohol and its like gasoline on a fire. Many family fueds/fights have erupted over this crap.

Long story short, politics is verboten now at family functions (like Floppin said). I demanded it at my wedding.

seeing that we're outnumbered..I just sit there and keep my mouth shut. If I don't, I get brought into it....usually it's my Dad's ramen noodled haired girlfriend that starts all this poo...I would love to shove a turkey leg down her throat to shut her fat ass up

hey..at least I get a 4 day weekend! :) SHOPPING!

I will say...Christmas Day we do at my house..where if politics or religion come up ..i do say something b/c you're in my house...and you'll shut it or lose it .

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! let's start drinking now

my wife and i rented a cabin and a couple we know from Ohio are coming down

they got engaged last year at Biltmore when we were all up there for a concert on thanksgiving, so we're kind of making this a new tradition

going to Biltmore thanksgiving day and then going to Pack's Tavern for their huge thanksgiving buffet. spending the rest of the weekend up there eating, drinking and wandering around town

    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
