Real reason we suck....more evidence

Coaching. Chud and Ron.

12 games in.

Carolina RBs have lead the team in rushing in a pathetic 5 games.

Some perspective on how pathetic that is.....

Even when Mike Vick set a NFL record and went for 1000 rushing yards a RB lead his team in rushing in 7 of those first 12 (more than half). Cam isn't on pace nor trying to do something crazy on the ground.....sad, really sad. We give Cam less help than any QB in the NFL on the ground and we have completely controlled and done that to ourselves

That limits Cam and our D. Fug those guys and there lazy 2012 "Well we have Cam mindset, he can do it all and we don't need to help".

I think you are letting Sean McDermott off the hook too easily.

No, that is the big picture reason. McD's D hasn't been a consistant theme. They were the main reason TODAY. One game or two game hiccups happen.

What I mentioned is an every week theme of the season.

D has put is in position to win many this year with average O. Really only 3 games have they been bad enough they made winning tough to do. Today was one.....very solid outside those 2 all things considered

We burned one in the 3rd quarter to save us from a delay of game.

The other two were burned due to defensive injuries inside of two minutes.

Ah, ok. I pretty much get all of the info from the official thread & the meltdowns can make hard to figure out what happened.

Making Quinn look like the GOAT QB didn't help...neither did letting Charles run wild.

Yep, it's all on Chud.

My post is big picture. Not KC specific. Yes his D was bad today and last week with Ron going down.....the several consecutive weeks before that?

Average O...and that D played good enough for us not to be sitting in a losing record today. We didn't have average O. Difference the last couple games is Cam is able to be a one man show against weak teams.

defense all around sucks(surprised that the run d is bad) and cam needs maybe another deep threat and lt to hold the pocket against better teams.

But again, this isn't a KC post.

D only got bad the last 2 weeks.....when we lost our DT. That spot impacts a lot when you insert the 2011 hot mess DTs. Flood gates are open and hurts LB play.

From Beason going down through Edwards going out.....they didn't suck. They were above average.

defense gave quinn a cushion all game. it's almost like they were trying to give the chiefs the game.

players were soft. the Dline played like crap. the play calling was soft.

oh...and rivera...crennell, the man whose head you can see from outer space, just let you know that it's ok to go for it on 4th and 1, you pansy.

i'm tired of bad soft coaching.

i'm tired of defensive minded coaches who play it safe.

if we hire another DC for a coach i'm probably quitting. i'm just tired of soft, risk averse, football.

it's time this team grew a set.

Lack of rushing game has been a big reason. But wether the leading rusher is a RB or not is moot. As long as our designed runs are successful it forces the defense to focus on it. Which helps Newton.

Assume Newton had five yards less and Williams five yards more, does the outcome or really anything change? For once our running game was not the big reason we lost

    • I will as soon as you withdraw your fandom from the Patriots. Informative threads are great but all of these estrogen and emotion driven threads you start are ridiculous.
    • Will be there tonight and expect nothing from the Canes. They are soft and won't go after anyone, nor will they respond when, not if, Florida starts bullying them. Not to mention Freddie is in net. I fear this will be an ass-kicking.
    • Is this not a bit contradictory?  Also surely if any of us are smart enough to evaluate what we're seeing in real time, a former NFL QB can at least manage the same.  Especially considering he's basing his analysis on hours (maybe generous?) of reviewing All-22 footage which he can play back over and over again, focusing each time on different position groups, match-ups, progressions, etc. which is simply impossible for a fan to fully assess in real time.  Unless you're actually at the game, we basically only get the QB/O-line in frame during the broadcast and even in that limited window of the field, there is simply too much happening.  I'm usually broadly focusing on Bryce, maybe peeping the footwork (or lack thereof) and just the overall pocket and whether there is any pressure coming.  I'm not able to watch every individual one-on-one o-line match-up on top of it to see who got beat, who didn't pick up a blitz, which o-lineman didn't shift to help double-team, or whatever else. I think the truth is somewhere in between (as is almost always the case).  Knowing the play call, audible, etc. is pretty important when judging individual performances, which is why we should always take PFF grades with a grain of salt.  But yeah we can also get a pretty good overall sense of how a player is performing just from watching the game on the couch on Sundays.  I still think there's a lot of value in a review video like this.  As long as you have the bare minimum media literacy to take the interesting insights while also acknowledging inherent biases from a video like this (i.e. obviously focusing on the good over the bad).
