Controversial opinion: the read option should not be totally abandoned

We need to establish a power running game like in our glory days. Especially if we still have Williams, Stewart and Tolbert on the roster next season.

But yes, still break out the read option every once in a while. If you have a QB that absolutely dominates that scheme then why not catch some teams off guard with it?

I just feel like our read option is so vanilla compared to the Redskins Read option. I also think Chud should've fully dived into running it out of the pistol formation like the Skins. Especially with our backs, and it provides great protect, when u run the fake out of it.

yep. agreed. it would be a lot more effective running it out of the pistol. i'd also incorporate a lot of no-huddle, hurry up offense when running it and allow cam to switch up the play calls on the line based on what the defense is scrambling to set up in hurry up mode.

the read option isn't the problem. it's the play calling and running of the offense that is the problem. it's the patchwork oline. it's having a sophomore QB starting (complete with the occasional brain farts and bad throws that comes with inexperience). it's having WRs make dumb mistakes. it's having a defense that gets soft at the end and puts the offense in bad positions.

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
