I need to make a dessert

I need to make a dessert for our group's Christmas Party Sunday.

I'm not a bad cook/chef, but don't want anything that takes hours to make either.

Any ideas? (BTW, there are always tons of cakes and pies.)

I was thinking about getting a spring form pan and making a baked cheese cake. (Too much trouble?) I could practice Saturday and then cook it Sunday morning. (Of course if it doesn't turn out, then I have to stop by Tweeter.)

Tres Leches cake. Bake a yellow cake in a pan. Let it cool, and poke holes in it with a toothpick. Mix up a can of evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and a cup of heavy cream, and pour over the cake. Cover and refrigerate overnight. The poo.

The recipe I see calls for chocolate cake not yellow. Does it matter?

You know, I'm an awesome cook but I've never made this. My mom made it for Thanksgiving and it was the most amazing thing that I've ever eaten. I'll call her in the morning for the recipe and post it in this thread.
