Your GM Predictions

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Ross is brought in to the be the new GM, he fires Rivera.

Then Hires Kevin Gilbride as the new HC

Who would probably bring along a few of the coaches with him from NY.

Lord, I hope you're wrong on that second point. I wouldn't want Gilbride.

If you're pulling from the Giants staff, wouldn't Fewell make more sense?

He would if the Panthers were wanting to go with a Defensive Coach again, but I think they'll look to the offensive side of the ball this time for a HC. What are your issues with Gilbride if he brings a good DC with him?

I remember his prior stint (San Diego, I think). His career track reads "good coordinator, lousy head coach". A guy like Greg Roman might be better if you're looking offense.

For the record though, I'm not that big a Perry Fewell fan either.

It was in San Deigo and he was fired because of the Ryan Leaf debacle.

While I'm at it, here are mine (candidate specific)...

Eric DeCosta, to no one's surprise, stays in Baltimore and continues to wait on Ozzie Newsome to retire.

I think Tom Gamble ends up with the Jacksonville GM spot (with his first duty being to acquire The Golden Calf of Bristol whether he wants him or not).

With the word that Rod Graves may be out, Steve Keim probably gets the GM gig in Arizona.

Joey Clinkscales stays in Oakland and continues to try to help his close friend Reggie McKenzie put out the dumpster fire that is the Raiders.

Scot McCloughan stays n Seattle (and why not? they look great right now)

George Kokinis remains an assistant to Ozzie Newsome (and eventually to Eric DeCosta)

That leaves us with Dave Gettleman and Marc Ross.

While my first choice would be Gettleman, I think Ross gets the job. Maybe he brings Gettleman alone too as a director of Pro Scouting or some such (Lord knows we could probably use a new one of those).

Not really going out on a limb here, I know.

As to Rivera, I think he stays for an audition year, and I think Ross is the one who makes that call.

Up next, the winning lottery numbers...

So who is going to take care of salary cap and roster management out of these two?

Neither.

I think they hire someone else for that job.

(I'd look to the Eagles; Lord knows they've been good at it)

So you think we will need 2 guys to do the job Hurney was doing on his own? Who will the buck stop at? the gm or the guy in charge of the purse?
