Good Guy Cam

Hotsauce

Recommended Posts

I am friends with a former Patriots Defense player. He also played for another NFC team as well. Anyway, he is good friends with many current NFL players.

Last week we were discussing Cam and the media, etc... He told me that he got to meet Cam last year at Cams New Years Eve Party. Said he was very nice, personable, and a generous host. He said cam was rocking a serious sweater and that he did not drink any alcohol. Said that he there was all the best food you could imagine, said that on the bar was 100's of shots of every top shelf liquor. The party wasn't big, maybe 50 or so people. ...that's all I remember from our conversation. He did say he got invited to come back to Cams party this year, but he can't go.

Anyway, I know this is borderline "crap" new thread material, and yeah...I know Cool Story Bro, so we can knock that out as well. I just didn't want this magnificent story to get buried in some random thread.

Cam is a good guy. He's a tough competitor with an edge, and he loves playing football more than anything. But that won't sell, at least until later in his career.

Just watch, the same people roasting Cam now will be ready to nominate him for sainthood as he nears retirement.

Lol @ the huddle.

If this had been a former NFL player friend talking bad about Cam there'd be people in here screaming at the top of their lungs how the story is fake.

Actually, I believe it would be quite the opposite. I sometimes get the impression that folks on this site can be a bit to lazy when it comes to Cam and finding out who he really is and will believe the negative more quickly than the positive. Hence maybe the reason why this thread isn't 5 pages long.

In all seriousness, I do research the players I follow and although I don't know Cam personally and expect him to be human, so far everything, all that I've read on him and heard about him does seem in line what this person stated.

You're story seem to kinda confirm my impression of Cam. He seems like the kind of person who will never stop others from enjoying themselves but hold strong to his own convictions. It's kind of sad folks don't show him that level of respect as a player and a person.

Thanks for the insight.

I heard he had a fake smile and uh... something about a strip club. Also, a scrooge.

Did you know he kicked a player?

Also, beat a ref half to death with the leg of a defender that broke off when he juked him too hard.

Terrible person, that Cam Newton.

Man the anti-anti-Cam circlejerk is starting to get old.

    • Bryce hasn't done a single thing to prove he deserves to have his option picked up.  I'd have less of an issue with us declining the option and bringing him back as the starter next year than I would have us picking up that option, as that means he's on our cap books for the next 2 years instead of 1, even if he's cut before year 5. Tua threw for 3,500 yards with a 25-8 TD-INT ratio in just 13 starts the year before they picked up his option, and then threw for over 4,600 yards before they gave him his extension. Kyler threw for 3,722, 3,971, and 3,787 in 16, 16, and 14 games (while rushing for 544, 819, and 423 in those seasons) before they picked up his option and then signed him to an extension before year 4. Jones threw for 3,200 yards with a 3-1 TD-INT ratio with another 700 yards and 7 TDs rushing in year 4 before they signed him to his extension. Bryce has thrown for 2,877 and 2,400 yards in 16 and 12 starts his two seasons, while being on pace for 3,128 yards in a 17 game season so far this year. The closest comparison to any of them was Jones, who while he's turned it around this year, is someone I think everyone can agree was not a player who deserved that extension after that season. If people think those other QB's having their options picked up and/or given extensions were a mistake, in what world can you look at what Bryce has done and make any rational argument for him even being brought back as our starter next year, let alone also picking up his option that would cost us about $27 million fully guaranteed.
    • I don't think we would actually play Hooker but hopefully we also just don't see. I don't view Dalton/Bryce as a worse option than Winston/Howell. I just think we disagree on this specific subject is all.
    • I guarantee tepper would fire him if we lost out and he’d be justified
