Haven't you heard? Despite being 16m over the cap next year, the Saints will be signing Mike Wallace (and Osi, and Michael Johnson, and Manny Lawson and Sean Smith and DRC and William Moore and Tony "Gonzales."

My favorite individual post...

Osi' date=' Sean Smith, DRC, Goldson, Dorsey, D Smith, and Freeny Please.[/quote']

Oh and they'll be getting Clowney too.

If they could just fill one hole with a high tier FA I would be happy. Sadly they usually just sign a bunch of journeymen and our own players to contracts that aren't even close to their talent level, and hope the draft will solve all of the other problems we have. Hoping the new GM won't have a "draft/resign own players only" mantra.

Mike Wallace is overated for the kind of money he is giong to want. Sure he can stretch the field but he isn't a great route runner. Wallace is a true #1 receiver. What were his stats this year??? I just don't understand all the love he gets on this board.

Steelers offense as a whole was down this year with QB injuries and a questionable OC.

He has more production than Smitty since arriving in the NFL.

What information are you basing this off of?

Mike Wallace GP Rec TGTS YDS AVG LONG TD FD F FL

2009

16 39 72 756 19.4 60 6 28 1 1 2010

16 60 100 1,257 21.0 56 10 48 1 0 2011

16 72 113 1,193 16.6 95 8 54 1 1 2012

15 64 119 836 13.1 82 8 33 2 1

Totals since Mike Wallace arrived in the NFL:

63 235 404 4,042 7.2 95 32

Steve Smith:

2009

15 65 130 982 15.1 66 7 41 1 0 2010

14 46 102 554 12.0 39 2 24 2 2 2011

16 79 129 1,394 17.6 77 7 53 3 2 2012

16 73 138 1,174 16.1 66 4 51 0 0

Steve Smith since Mike Wallace has been in the league:

61 263 499 4104 15.6 77 20

So the only areas in which Mike Wallace has been better than Smith at over the past 4 years is TDs and YPC avg. You're saying that Mike Wallace had a down year because of QB injuries and a questionable OC.

Steve Smith had 2 down years 09' and 10' because of No QB and no competant OC and has still outperformed Mike Wallace up to this point. If you compare the 2 over the last 2 years Steve Smith is better hands down. Mike Wallace IS overated. all he is is a deep ball threat. Antonio Brown is more of a complete receiver than he is. why do you think they gave the money to Brown.

C'mon man

C'mon man

off the info you provided.

Smith has 62 more rec yards

Wallace has 12 more rec TDs.

Wallace therefore has produced more offense in the time span. 12 TDs > 62 yards. Smitty also had more turnovers. So yeah, facts show Wallace has produced more offense. Wallace's specific production for 2012 was asked about.....a hurt Big Ben and a OC called out by that Superbowl QB were relevant to the specific question

With Cam Newton a deep all threat is off HUGE importance.

And Smitty was just a victim of poor QB play in 2010. yeah, it hurt him.....his numbers were also hurt by him being an asshole that year. In adding to the problem, it means the pass for that year doesn't carry the full weight you want to give it.
