What moves would U make as GM

I see alot of post and arm chair quarterbacking about people would do this, would do that, should do this, should do that.. So if you were GM, what do you do? RR is staying so we dont need to hear your philosphys on who we should pick for head coach, but what other moves would you make. im not asking for peoples opinions on others post either.. just strictly, what would you do as gm. if you dont have nothing nice to say...stfu. cuz no one cares

personally, first thing, cut the fat, and dead weight. Players like Clausen need to be gone, they are taking up cap space and roster spots that could much better be utilized. I mean i would rather have a 4th string Left guard to rotate in and out than clausen on the side line. Second, find a REAL kicker. someone that can put points on the board. period.

asside from that, I like the talent we have on the team. BUT id have to trade beason, and try to find some big proven corner. 1 Is better than nothing. On offense, I have to draft O line with the first pick. If the talent isnt there, possible trade back and pick up a Wide reciever, and get a trade or FA Oline. with the talent already on the team, i dont think you need to do much more than that. maybe tighten up the D line a little, but they did a good job as is.

third, Id leave Chud in place. He got the offense working the last half of the season once they moved to a pro style offense. Without being on the inside its hard to say wether he should stay or go based on his attitude towards having his schemes taken from him, but from the outside looking in, Id say he stays.

the only other thing i can think of, is possibly trying to re structure a couple contracts to free up some cap space. but thats an entire topic unto its self...

Lastly, as GM. I WOULD change the mentality in the locker room. Id have to pull a military style beat them to nothing and bring them back up as winners approach, but by the end of it, the entire team would be more cohesive, and tougher.. not to mention stronger.

thats about it for me. what you got.

I'd be looking at the upcoming draft thinking about who would be available around the 14th on the O&D lines that would help us improve up the interiors. I'd also be looking at LT in search for a possible sucessor to Gross so we can slide Bell into RG and move Gross over to that RT for the remainder of his time as a Panther. This is assuming we can restructure his contract and keep him here.

knowing it's a make or break year for Ron and basically its a one year interview, you start getting under the CAP muy pronto and then start stock piling draft picks.

by stockpiling picks, you buy time and cap flexibility. if Ron doesn't make the playoffs, thats ok because you are under the CAP and have lots of picks for the new guy.

If Ron DOES make the playoffs, well, that's cool as well.

find a starting RG, find more competition at T.

Dump a RB

Restructure or dump a LB (Beason and Anderson cost too much money when you look at what Luke/TD cost).

Revamp our QB and WR corps outside of Cam, Smith and LaFell.

Focus on secondary on D.

..... Big names not involved.

Everyone that want a Tackle in the draft always ruin their case by suggesting Bell should move to RG.

    • The problem with these summary stats and rankings is that they flatten out progression and assume an even performance throughout the year. His first 3 or 4 games of the season don't really tell you anything about his current level of capacity but more about where he started and what his floor was last year. Given his last several games were against playoff teams, that gives you an idea of his current ability coming into the season. But it will serve more as a floor than a ceiling given the upgrade in talent on offense. And a better defense should give us more stops which results in shorter fields and more opportunities. And going into his third year there is no reason to suspect he will regress. His success wasn't  based on being superhuman but being smart and taking what was the defense was giving him. Distributing to the other guys not trying to do it on his own. He was great at the end when pressured and consistently moved the ball. That makes him a great game manager which is what we need. Something that is easier to do and relies on everyone else rather than having to be a top physical specimen or do it on his own. No one can predict the future but to say we haven't improved much is crazy given just having the Browns anchoring the defensive line will shut down the run and make sure QBs won't be stepping up in the pocket.  Assuming Evero got the message to can the prevent defense and bend until you break philosophy.
