He did a lot of interesting things with the hybrid fullback Marcel Reece, who was more a of a natural receiver coming into the league. He got a good rushing attack going with Darren McFadden and made Jason Campbell look like a pro bowler for a little while. He was the driving force behind the Carson Palmer trade after Campbell got hurt, so don't let him have any GM duties. . . ever. Probably a good pick to coordinate.

Well Hue Jackson was a pretty good QB (granted not an NFL QB, but a good HS and college QB).

Jackson played QB, coached RB's at Washington (helped Davis dominate), and WR's at Cincinnati (back when Palmer, Chad Johnson and TJ whosyomomma were dominant). He also coached QB's at Baltimore (really Flacco's best years -- under John Harbaugh).

He's failed as a OC at Washington (under Spurrier) and at Atlanta (Petrino). He was a very good OC at Oakland (6th in scoring, 10th in total offense -- with less weapons than Carolina currently has. He then became the HC at Oakland, started out 7-4 and finished 8-8 just to get fired by the new GM (Oakland hasn't been nearly as good since). Jackson then came back to Cincy to become the assistant to special teams and defensive backs.

I don't know a ton about the guy, but he seems like a pretty solid choice to me.

who cares about what he does with just another RB. What about what he does with our QB, a position that matters?

Helping Joe Flacci become an average QB should not be the highlight of your resume'

Joe Flacco is exactly what he's always been in the pros no matter who's coaching him. average to good QB that can win games.

sounds like he can do a lot and might be good...but also sounds like a guy always looking for his next gig.

what about his offense is special?

well he worked up through the ranks for about ten years and finally landed a HC gig but didn't last long, which is probably at least partially attributable to the capriciousness of the al davis era

once he got fired he landed as an assistant coach for cinci, but i'm not clear what his actual role there is. any way you look at it he's been enormously successful as both a position coach (for wide receivers, running backs, and QBs) and as an offensive coordinator, so as long as he's not bringing in anything funky he's a good fit on paper

Yeah cause why would we want to actually use our 70 million dollar backfield?

What kind of moronic franchise pays RBs of all positions 70 million dollars and then doesn't move to rectify that astronomical mistake as quickly as possible.
