The ability of Fathers and Sons to have a conversation...

Apparently I don't have this ability, or he doesn't, or some combination of the two.

I honestly feel like I am talking to some alien person when we try and have a serious conversation.

Zero connection.

Does anyone else have this issue ? Or am I just especially fuged up? (yeah yeah)

You white, he's asian.

is ur baby super laid back? Not crying much? Some of my fiancé family members just had kids, they're so quiet and laid back... I think its just asian genes.

WTF is even going on here.

Did you put Vodka in your cereal again ?

Both my father and FIL are white.

Asian babies are quiet because they can't understand english... :D

Find common interests; you can talk about things you like no matter who it's with.

Zero.

How old is he?

60ish.

For instance he called me today about a prior agreement.

Basically telling me I would become a better person if he didn't follow through, b/c he didn't feel I had "qualified" for said agreement happen.

I have of course, he just got into his mind that this needed to be discussed...well argued about.

It's hard to explain what it's like to have such a straining relationship. I feel like I have next to no connection with one of the few people I should.

My dad was always a hard ass growing up and he never shared my interests so we have always been socially awkward. We talk to each other through my mother. We once went on vacation together, just me and him and every night at dinner it was silence.....absolutely brutal. TBH I'm a little worried some things will go unsaid until the day he dies but that's how his generation is. I don't know how to fix my situation and I sure as hell don't know how to fix yours but all I can say is it happens.

My dad and I always get in arguments... We cannot talk for more than 30min without arguing about something.

Recently, my dad got hurt very bad at work. I felt it... It was weird but I knew something happened to him and maybe 1 hour later my mom called me to let me know my dad got injured pretty bad. I believe that's the connection.

    • I had everything saved on an old email address and my computer crashed and could not be revived.  I tried reviving it, then stumbled on one I was going to create several years ago...So I am using it instead.  My fault--did not keep the email and forgot password--
    • Rasheed Walker for Kris Jenkins Jr.is what i am actually referring to in that particular post  all those #'s you are referring to are athletic #'s & Monroe Freeling had or has an impressive combination of size & raw athletiscm & it has nothing do with his size or athelticsm that is preventing him from being a day 1 starter in the NFL technique is where he struggled at the NFL combine & not only scouts but analysts alike also viewed him as more of a developmental type of player rather than a day 1 starter  go take a look at Will Campbell transition from the SEC to the NFL another first round LT that was drafted #4 overall by the New England Patriot,s.Will Campbell was a three year starter at  LSU & was thought to be one of if not the very best LT's in the SEC  & compare his SEC carrer to his rookie season in the NFL? just because you played good in the SEC at LT does nescarrily mean you are ready to start at LT in the NFL day 1 & or your rookie season  & one last thing i think you are jumping to conclusion & somehow assuming that i do not like Monroe Freeling ?which could not be further from the truth .what i do not like is the idea starting a player who is not ready ...just saying
