EJ Manuel - Legit Backup QB Option

Gucci Mane

Recommended Posts

I think in this QB starved league, I'd be surprised to see Manuel last past the 3rd round.

This.

With the hype around the read/option and the success of rookies over the last two years, teams are going to keep reaching for the next big thing... He won't last past the 3rd.

Even if he does last into the 4th round, with a lack of a 3rd rounder, are we really in a position to be using a pick just outside the top 100 (Rd 4, Pick 105) on a backup QB? It's generally agreed that we'll draft some combination of OT/DT/WR with our top two picks, I can't see us taking a backup QB with our third. In fact, I think our top three picks will be some combo of O-Line/DT/WR.

eagles and jags are looking at him already at the senior bowl so no.

he might do decent....remember when everyone said wilson was too short and colin could do nothing but run. you never know.....and with running qbs gettin popular that makes it harder to get him... hes like the only guy who can run as a qb this year.......

    • Well, in 2003 we had Rodney Peete and had just snagged some Cajun dude who'd spent time on and off New Orleans' bench and practice squad, had played a bit in Europe. Moose was being considered kind of a guy that hadn't lived up to being a WR1 and Smitty was interesting but hadn't really evolved yet. And then there was Ricky Proehl, an aging, not-so-fast white guy with good hands. Our RB corps was a rookie out of UCLA with a lot of question marks and an aging guy who'd just been jettisoned by the Deadskins. Our o-line was suspect and our offensive play caller was a former head coach of the Falcons. Of course, we had this monster of a player at DE named Julius Peppers. The league had gotten a glimpse of him the year before but they had no idea. No idea at all what they were running into. In 2015 we lost Kelvin Benjamin in the pre-season to injury and we were ready to hang it up right then and there. It would take 15 regular season games and one really pissed off Falcons team before someone would hang a loss on us.  So, maybe, just maybe, we can find a spark of magic this season, the conditions seem eerily familiar. Sure would be nice.
    • That playoffs run was 7 wins my guy. Nobody is suggesting a 2015 like run.
    • Switch the bucs out (Now that Brady retired) with ATL and I'm right there with you buddy. Also, I'd have to throw in the Bengals as a #6 bonus team.
