I'm not going to project any trades even though I'd like to slide back in either Round 1 or 2 to grab extra picks.

Round 1 - Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

A good UT is harder to find and Floyd has shown the ability to not only to get penetration and be disruptive, but also stop the run (where Dwan Edwards has really struggled). Floyd also has a good motor which is something I love to see from a D-lineman. The major knock on Floyd seems to be his technique which can be coached up. Sheldon Richardson and Lane Johnson are also options here but Richardson has his struggles against the run and Johnson appears to be a reach at 14.

Round 2 - Dallas Thomas, OT, Tennessee

I struggle with this pick because there was a reason Thomas was moved inside to guard and I'm looking for him to at least start at RT this year and then move over to LT. Thomas is certainly capable of being the heir to Gross though so I'll stick with him. Quinton Patton is a very close second here (love his ability to break down a corner with his route running). WR Da'Rick Rogers, CBs Logan Ryan and Jordan Poyer are also getting long looks (this is where moving down in the first gives you much more flexibility).

Round 4 - Gerald Hodges, OLB, Penn St.

Some injury history and over-paid contracts at the linebackers has me looking at Hodges here. Extremely productive at linebacker U. Has the range to get sideline to sideline and is a good tackler. Not a position of need but a potential starter in the future as a bunch of our linebackers are close to 30. At the very least good depth going forward. DTs Jordan Hill and Kwame Geathers, S JJ Wilcox, CB BW Webb all strong possibilities here as well.

Round 5 - Matt Scott, QB, Arizona

Looking for a backup here even if DA leaves in free agency. He has the size, arm and athleticism for the NFL and in the Cam mold. Needs to bulk up a little though. Bye Jimmy.

Round 6 - Manase Foketi, OT, West Texas A&M

Dominated at LT against the lower competition. Athletic for a big man and possesses a mean streak. Could stay at tackle in NFL but at the very least looks like a good developmental pick for either tackle or guard. Rogers Gaines from Tennessee St. gets essentially the same praise so they would be interchangable here.

Round 6 - Terry Hawthorne, CB, Illinois

Bad D at Illinois, Good CB. Bring him in and throw him in with Thomas, Norman, Dockery and Ness to see what he can do. Munerlynn is likely leaving anyway. WR Brian Kauffman another possibility.

Round 6 - Quanterous Smith, DE, Western Kentucky

Beat Alabama's tackles for 3 sacks (2 on Fluker) this year and has had very good production over his 2 years of starting. Speedy DE with ideal height at 6'5" but needs to add some weight and is coming off an ACL injury. Take a chance and add some depth. S Cooper Taylor would be someone else to look at here.

NT, WR and secondary were largely ignored. I feel like we could target a Sammie Lee Hill or Terrance Kingston for NT in free agency. Our secondary is developing, if we can keep making our front 7 stronger, they will be respectable again. And with so many young WRs on the roster someone has to start getting it right? Gettis, Pilares, Adams, Murphy, Edwards....come on someone.

I like the effort in trying to address need and realize that you cant please everyone. and no matter what there are going to be holes to fill. That said, here are my comments:

1. Not totally convinced that the guys you have slated for our 1st two picks will be the best available in those positions where we pick but they are both solid in their respective positions. I could be totally wrong on this but it is just my opinion as of this date.

2. Not a big fan of the LB in the 4th either but given cap issues with Anderson, injury history with TD and the status of Beason it may be the unexpected pick if someone is available here that grades out well.

3. Replacing a backup QB that cant play with a 5th round draft pick QB that cant play is not a solution.

4. 6th round is always a shot in the dark but will take a look at the prospects.

Overall, I dislike this draft a lot however, this definitely puts a different spin on the draft in general and adds to the discussion.

Just because I don't agree with it does not mean its not a good post.

      Brother re-check that guarantee...my page shows 30mill.....thats means he's staying in my book for at least til the end of 2026.  Im going to be my normal honest self, besides watching like half of the SB, I didn't know the guy. My guess is Panthers have a "planned model of paying players" and they almost had to spend a chunk of space on a DLman after Dbrown injury season gave them a nightmare out-come of worst D in NFL scoring. Once Milton got above Dbrown payments, they went with the plan B. A player whom the "co-GM" put his name with. Brad said turk would not be a problem off-field and leader, which the Panthers need badly. I dug in with the google-fu, I found out  I also found him playing lots of NT, which was shocking given the small frame. He seems ready for a bigger role and had a great SB too. IDK, I feel Dan Morgan was dead set on not going into this season without more DL depth and its there. The real deal is this, nearly all FA take one year to "adjust". I think turk is trying too hard and causing injuries as a result for his contract. Dbrown called turk "strong as hell" and I know for a fact Dbrowns has insane core and strength numbers. They lift together with the 50 LB difference...... you always lift with a guy who's similar in strength cause you can leave on the 8 wheels, let the other guy lift while you rest and go after him.  I do wish he had a better beginning to his panther career, 3 games for him to do so and it would cover up the low points if he made a few plays.... Again it felt like they almost had to make move/spend $$$ and Morgan was going to have DL depth this season no matter what...My best guess.

      There's a reason DC wasn't getting calls to be a HC. He wasn't ready. His indecisiveness is infuriating. His lack of awareness is mystifying. He jumped at the chance to grab the David Tepper retirement plan and who can really blame him. Maybe with time he can grow into the job. But we're on year 8 of our 7 year rebuild. I think I'm gonna need a hip replacement before we get a decent HC.
