According to Person we're keeping Williams...

If we were looking to shop him at the combine, would we leak it that we intend to keep him in order to keep teams from waiting for us to cut him? Wasn't it a bit odd that article included a reference about teams that were interested in him last year (Green Bay)? If nothing is going to happen to him, and we are $10 million over the cap and plan to make some free agent acquisitions, isn't it a bit early to have made this decision when no other decisions are being made?

Thanks. We are entering the smokescreen and mirrors days. The first paragraph sounds like a leak to the media to me. Person is the only one pushing it.

DWill is perfect for a contender making a run because he doesn't fumble much and is a good blocker.

If we trade Williams then all of his cap hit accelerates and we owe 9.6 million. We are not going to do that for a third rounder which is likely the best we are going to do. We need to reduce his cap hit and keep him for a year or two not trade him and fall further into cap hell.

Williams extension likely is the 2nd worst deal in Panther history...

Time to move on from it. Nice guy, was a great player....but Hurney screwed us and essentially handicapped Williams from finishing what should of been some great years for him as an individual.

we cant just move on without 10 million in dead cap space. Why is that so hard for some folks to understand. We aren't moving on because it is more disasterous to move on than restructure and keep him this year. What it is time to move on from are all the posts saying we need to dump him and eat 10 million in cap space. If Gettleman says that isn't the way to go then why do you think you know better?

All about the big picture....

And don't be so confident yet we aren't moving on from it....

Yes, it creates dead cap space...but also cap room. A starter at a position of need that works out > Williams staying (bc we have guys that can take his carries....very good players).

Again stupid logic. It doesn't do anything between now and June 1st. Even then it cost us 10 million in dead cap space. That isn't cap room that is cap hell. I understand you don't like Williams although you say you do and take any opportunity to whine and complain about his contract. You have done it for years to no avail and Gettleman doesn't think that is the way to go and has already tried to restructure him or he would be as coy with Williams as he is with Gamble and say nothing. Like usual you are out in left field with no leg to stand on. You keep going back to 2011 as if we can undo anything instead of deal with the current realities.

You are one of those people who spend 500 bucks but think you saved money because you could have spent 800 bucks. Anyone thinking that 10 million in dead cap space is saving anything is deluded. You spent millions for nothing..................

I have never suggested him being anything but a June 1 cut....

And as you know, I fully endorsed Williams as THE guy once he got his deal and that we should let Stewart walk. Then they paid Stewart so Williams becomes again the guy to go.

Weak to try to spin it as individual player hate. All about over investing at RB and it costing us. Who the RB actually is becomes largely irrelevant.

And again, too early for you to claim Gettlemen supports X or Y. He hasn't shown yet what he believes....yet you continue to use that in your argument. He easily could dump Williams still and say it was just too silly what was being done...

And teams eat money....they do it for the greater good. Again, it is about creating room and getting better...not saving

and you sound like a guy who pays $110 a month for a gym membership, never goes to the gym, and never works up the nerve to go there and quit because the cancellation fee is just ridiculous might as well pay for something i never use

Do you think that 9.6 million will be the only cap space we eat?? Don't be so naive. And anyone who has read any of your posts knows you dislike Williams and take shots at him all the time. Saying you support him in one post and then panning him in a hundred others only works in your head.

You really don't know how to read between the lines at all. If he was considering dumping Williams he would not have said anything supportive about keeping him. Has he said anything positive about Gamble and trying to work a deal?? If anything he is trying to trade Gamble to salvage something. Some of us pay attention enough to deduce basic logic. Others apparently don't or can't.

Stupid analogy like usual. Dumping Deangelo and saying you saved money is like buying a phone with a 2 year contract and then deciding you can save a few bucks by switching to another carrier because they have cheaper phones. So you cancel your contract, pay hundreds in penalties as a cancellation fee and rationalize that down the road you will actually save money. Other smart folks like myself, weight out the pros and cons, compare the costs and either decide to wait until the contract is up to switch to avoid large penalty fees or we negotiate with the carrier to let us go for less than the total cancellation fee. Smart folks can see the correlary to our situation, ignorant ones can't? Which are you?

No, it is just an easy tactic to claim I hate Williams.

Great RB, great guy to have in your organization.....Hurney screwed us and essentially Williams. I feel bad for him as he could of had a great past couple of years if he played for a team that could of given him the carries and he fit.

Has a reporter asked him about Gamble for him to give a bogus PC answer to? You call people naive....then claim he is trying to trade Gamble? Gamble isn't tradable bc he is an OBVIOUS must cut. If a team wants him they will just wait to pick him up.

Poster X - Cutting Williams June 1st creates cap room in 2013 and 2014. The room is worth eating the money bc is what we can do with it

55 - you think we save money? So naive....

You aren't even acknowledging what people say and just slant there arguement into something they aren't actually saying
