Packers CB Sam Shields can be had for a 2nd rd pick

On my phone, can't link, but I saw that the Packers put a 2nd rd tender on Sam Shields. He's a quality CB and would most likely immediately be our best CB. The biggest problem is that we'd have to offer a contract the Packers weren't willing to match. Contract aside, what would you guys think about spending our 2nd rd pick on him? I'm torn. I love the value in the 2nd this year, but Shields is a young, proven starting talent at a position of need.

We have some moneyz. About $7mil if I'm not mistaken. Wouldn't take all of that to get him. Would you be satisfied if he and our draft picks were our only acquisitions this year?

The Anderson space doesn't exist....not until June.

    • My thing with that is you can’t look at it is a vacuum. Things are symbiotic, if I am using that word right. I know that the playbook is a certain way because of Young’s skill set. Just opening things up to different options would change the whole thing for everybody involved. A whole new equation.    Otherwise to the original idea, Wallace was a bad pick. I thought so last year when he got on the field and really never improved. And can’t think of them right now but I know there are examples of a coach or GM being great at a position but cannot fill it on his team. But Dan, that Wallace evaluation; wtf happened?  But I think the 2025 rookies are looking pretty good if you are grading on a Panther curve. T Mac will make his QB better (I think we see that now). I really hope Zavala isn’t reverting to 2023 form. Because we will be screwed.  Kicker couldn’t make it from what, 57? To me, if your defense is strong and is balling and you punt the ball, I won’t complain. This, today, wasn’t that. Canales is still a young coach and still green.
    • Is Bryce is going to have success at any level as a quarterback in the NFL he has to eliminate his turnovers. This was a very winnable game today without his turnovers.
    • Not the same scheme as 1997 dude
