From Panthers.com "Gettleman ready to manage free agency"..

"You use all the avenues to add players to your team – you watch the waiver wire, you inquire about trade possibilities, you take guys off the street, you snag guys off someone else's practice squad," Gettleman said. "You have to build through the draft – you have to. You have to raise your own, and then you fill in with unrestricted free agents.

Did we replace Marty with.. Marty?

A lot of these young guys don't understand "No Money" they have watched our Gov't spend money it didn't have all their lives. Why can't the Panthers. Sad.

I think you are right. We have known for awhile the next few years arent looking good due to Hurney. But alot of people cant seem to get it through there head.

Honestly, almost all the 2nd tier FA that could help us are gone. This FA has moved faster then others from the past few years, it's not just the Mike Wallace's that got signed the first few days, Phillips and Canty are already gone. We are fugged.

I really hope you are being sarcastic, but your tone in your message says you serious. I guess we may as well pack it up and forfeit all our games next season. Sigh......

Everyone knows championship are built through Free Agency

Guess Gettleman needs to panic and follow the motto of this thread.

I stay out of most threads during fre agency cause it's always the same.

Most fans have no concept of the situation, and it's nothing but over reaction to lack of activity.

The Panthers are never big spenders in free agency.

They also don't have the funds available to go after players that most of you want.

I am serious, because this is the same story we've heard for years and years now, and where are we? As our fanbase gets more and more bitter, how do you think the players feel? Players take paycuts/less pay etc to play on teams with a chance to win, not on a team that's always "building". We are becoming the Bobcats of the NFL.

decent spenders in the years we have won...but no room to do that as long as Hurney's overpaid squad remains here

There are 450 free agents..which why the Drayton Florence signing is puzzling to me.

I wonder if Gettleman just found a really old draft guide and thought Florence was a sought after cb.

Seriously..there will be still big names after this inital rush..and yes it would be nice to secure the guy and a name..but gotta understand the position the cap is in and all we are probally offering is 1 year contracts to maintain the cap flexibility next season.

    • Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is putting the league on notice early into his NFL career, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is well aware.  “I think he’s a stud,” Shanahan told reporters Thursday. “He’s going to be one of the best receivers in this league sooner than later. He’s got all the skill sets to do it, and I think he’s just getting started.”  Through 11 games played, McMillan has racked up 748 receiving yards on 54 receptions. He ranks sixth in the NFL in receiving yards and leads all rookies in the category.  Carolina selected McMillan as the No. 8 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. San Francisco had the 11th overall pick.  Did the receiver out of Arizona catch Shanahan’s eye in draft preparation?  “Yeah, big time,” Shanahan said.  Shanahan also said that he thought the receiver would be taken well ahead of the 49ers’ draft position, but the team did their due diligence when scouting the best overall draft picks in the 2025 class. With McMillan off the board, San Francisco ended up selecting defensive end Mykel Williams with the 11th pick to bolster its defensive line. https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/kyle-shanahan-tetairoa-mcmillan/1893558/
    • Koochie is playing his best hockey yet so far but it’s a small sample size
    • In basically every win but Atlanta he's had 2-3 plays that were a big deal but he also was part of why we needed those 2-3 plays instead of just cruising.
