Curious Scenario for the Cap Guys

Cutting/trading Gross right now would save $6.7m this year and $9.7m next year. Doing so after June 1 would save $8.7m this year and $7.7m next year.

Cutting/trading Beason right now would actually cost us $2.75m this year (remaining guaranteed money is higher than this year's salary), but would save us $10.5m next year, 11.5m after that, and then 8.75m in the last year. Doing so after June 1 would save $5.25m this year, $2.75m the next year, and the last two years stay the same.

Still learning this cap stuff so it may not be 100% accurate, but there's a reason I think one or more of our big money guys will be cut/adjusted come June.

How do we know Gross is not willing to restructure? Just because it has not happened? We do not know what specifically has been ask of him.

He was asked to take a paycut....not just restructure his deal. Difference, and that is why nothing has happened yet

Gross has become an avg tackle that's for sure. He is making top 10 money though, if we know one thing about Genttelman is he does not play. If Gross sticks with his deal he is as good as gone.

I do not think Gross will be gone this season if he chooses not to restructure. We have nobody on the roster to replace him, the three draft picks that could maybe step in and play at a decent level will be gone before 14, and with the money we saved if we cut him I doubt we could sign someone that would be an upgrade.

I think he'd be gone before next season. I think a lot of his struggles had to do with playing next to Amini early in the season. If Amini makes a big jump forward this season as I suspect he might, Gross should still look like a better than average LT.

You are still claiming if he is a leader then he should take a paycut...not true.

Again, if that is your belief you should be on the Jon Beason should not take a paycut but instead should play for free in 2013.

Gross isn't a politician...he just has leverage in contract negotiations. This is his JOB. Players don't "take one for the team". They get paid the most they can....then do there job.

No I didn't. I specifically said all that I cared about was him lowering his cap number, doesn't need a paycut just needed him to lower the cap number, which he did, and that's admirable.

Pretty much seems like you could argue with a brick wall.
