Why I Think the Panthers Will Dominate Next Year

I think our defense will carry our offense.

The defense carrying the offense doesn't mean wins. Any mediocre team can have a better defense than offense. Arizona can tell you all about that.

I'm with OP here, 13-3. It will happen.

and the 3 lost will come by us sitting our starters the last 3 weeks after getting home field advantage.

For some reason, as i have had time to sit back and look at all the moves that had been made this offseason, I am more excited than ever. I know that we were all excited last year, but this year is different because of the new climate around the organization with the GM change and the controversy of bringing back rivera, also chud leaving.

Last year is going to be the year we look back on in 5-10 years as one of the most important years we have ever had. All the mistakes that had us in hulk-rage mode were necessary evils. We needed to play soft zone many times over only to get the same result of an embarassing loss. Cam needed to throw that ball in the ground in the Seattle game. Lafell needed to drop that pass against kansas city. Our offense started to correct itself through making mistakes but now its brought to a team level and now is the real time to put our best foot foward. Rivera now knows just how important every little decision is through the duration of the game, and that as a head coach he should be prepared for every situation.

Gettleman had us all flustered but as we let things pan out, he has at least appeared to be a crucial peice of the puzzle we were missing. We started out in one of the most undesirable situations as far as the cap is concerned, and when he came in and declared that he wanted to position us in the draft to be able to pick the BPA, we thought he was crazy. With the secondary acquisitions and retaining captain, the wild card in Ted Ginn, the resiging of Dwan to adress interior dline needs, and restructuring gross, Gettleman has truly made good on his promise to put us in a good position in the draft.

2013-14 will be a very good year for the Panthers, and to think we still have the draft to improve our squad is an awesome thought.

TL;DR: chyea.well put. My sentiments exactly

I think we can put it together. We have the talent. We need some WR help but lets not forget Cam was not to far from 4000 yds passing. We get that running game going again. It is going to be choose your poison. Stop the run or stop the pass. I think we did as you say. We learned from all our mistakes. Both player error and poor coaching decisions.

I always felt we underachieved last year. This year we will make our mark. The Panthers will be relevant.

The negative Nancy's will always be here. Doom and Gloom is their lifestyle. I choose to believe that our team can turn it on and win like they are capable of.

    • Yeah not taking that Burns trade was infinitely stupid. We seem to be finally righting the ship but, imo, our biggest issue since Tepper bought the team has been coaches and management having a poor understanding of where our own roster is at. Starting with that idiot Rhule drinking his own kool-aid and thinking he was going to come and take the NFL by storm with Teddy freaking Bridgewater. Could have just kept Cam on the last year of his contract and gone from there but noooo that fat slob had to feel like he was the big man on campus. First round wizard Marty Hurney who, for whatever his faults, has a freaking HOF track record with first round picks, wants to trade up for Hebert but fat fug Rhule says no. Then we kept Rhule for 3 years which is absolutely unbelievable to me and every single year he treated our roster like it was just one player away trading our draft picks for Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield who have proven since leaving that Matt Rhule was an even bigger idiot of a coach than we thought. We finally seem to understand we are a ways off and trade CMC, but then we don’t take the actual good trade for Brian Burns who was never better than a run of the mill situational pass rusher. Then we botch the self scout of our OL (and team) after Wilks, even though they were bad before Wilks simplified the scheme, thinking they can execute whatever the hell Reich and Brown were trying to do. So we win a couple meaningless games playing dummy ball and Fitterer thinks we’re a player away again. And nobody even considers that having the slowest receiving corps imaginable with Damiere freaking Byrd, who can’t even make it to the season before being injured and cut, as your only hope for speed, coupled with the worst pass blocking OL I’ve ever seen, might lead to titanic levels of disaster. The way Canales and Morgan have been adamant about constantly bringing competition at every position has been refreshing and made a huge difference. I was kind of worried that we had fallen into our old ways leading up to the draft with all the talk of defense only and worried that they might feel the offense was set. Very glad to see they were not complacent on that. My big thing now is I’m still wondering why Evero is still here. I can’t think of a single player who has gotten better under him, and the Broncos defense got better once he left. We’ll see.
    • really good interview that gives some insight into their decision making process in making up the schedules and the issues they run into with so many people broadcasting games now. also some interesting discussion on what they have going on and where they might be heading in the international games. vikings have 2 of them, btw. we might be seeing more of that.
    • wow i absolutely LOVED watching that.   will watch again...and again...and again.
