Scott Fowler: Wins are Cam's litmus test this year

What is there to argue, or is it more like bickering?

Can't be bitter about the past forever. There were many mistakes last year from coaches to players.

I've already wasted enough time last year being mad. I'm focused on 2013 and improving in all areas.

CRA said a different play should have been called against Seattle when Cam threw it in the dirt, Me and Bleys suggested that our franchise quarterback should have made the play.  In the context of the discussion, there was nothing random about it. So once again i dont get why you would feel the need to respond.

You're still oversimplifying things.

If you check any of Luck's, RG3's Wilson or Kaepernick's games last year, they had incredible good fortune due to their teams overall success (Run game, coaching, Defense, etc.). That hasn't been the Panthers in the Rivera era.

The same can be said for elite NFL QB's (their team success). And even if that wasn't the case, they're experienced and skilled enough to occasionally win games on their own.

So unless, you're not saying that any of the so called young guns are in Cam's class, you're slightly reaching here.

How many games did the Rivera and the defense blow during the 4th quarter the past two years?

Remember (for example), in all Luck's 6 game winning drives, the opposition had enough to score and win the game, but the defense (no  matter how bad they played up until that point), held them off.

He actually played very poor in many of those games, but still came out with the win, due to good coaching, late game defensive play and adjustment, and of course good fortune.

I'm only thinking of Brady, Rodgers, Manning and Brees. I've seen them pull out many wins with  defenses that were ranked worse than ours.  I'm withholding judgment on the "young guns."

Cam's importance to the team should be evident from the uptick in wins that we had when we drafted him. Now it's up to him to take the next step. To be great, he has to take the team on his back---coaches and all---and take the Panthers at least to the brink of the playoffs if not across the threshold.

I don't necessarily think that the article is putting unjust or undo pressure on Cam.  That seems to be the insinuation in this thread. Regardless of how important that a fan believes that Cam is important to the team, he is still a part of the team. And, like it or not, if the team goes down, then Cam is going down right along with it. Isn't it weird to say "As the team goes, Cam goes"? But it's not quite out of the ordinary to say "As Cam goes, the team goes." In any event, everyone has another season under their belts, so experience will hopefully not be the excuse for losing, but a reason for winning.

I'm not allowed to respond? I was unaware the gestapo was running the place here.

Seriously though, I made my opinion about the throw known that day. He should have completed it.

Why it is still being obsessed over 8 months later is a mystery to me though.

A clutch QB will overcome poor coaching and make any incompetent coach look good. It's time for Cam to lead this team to some wins. I agree with the article.

Hard for a rookie and sophomore QB to overcome poor coaching and an incomplete team....

But a great 3rd year player probably shouldn't let that keep him from a winning season

If it wasn't a "big deal" it wouldn't have been brought up in the first place.

Do what once a day, have a discussion? Can't say I'm the only one here doing that.

I concede though and you can have the last word if it makes you happy. I want to be fair and all.

I will have the last word because you are being fuging retarded. It wasn't a "big deal" for you to comment on us not talking about something relevant to the conversation.  Feel free to keep chiming in your two cents of why people shouldn't be talking about something when you are telling me not to do the same to you.  You have done this with multiple people and you still aren't getting the hint?

Bickering would be presenting new arguments that are largely irrelevant to a very small discussion within the context of a thread.

Only one of us is getting bent out of shape and acting silly right now, and I'll give you a hint. It isn't me.

Chill out and enjoy your evening. It's still Thursday.

No it's ruined because I'm on a message board bitching about inconsequential poo. My night is poo now. Thanks.

There is reason to be optimistic about Newton.

His press conference this week seemed very very different than other Newton press conferences before the season started.

He seemed more composed, more self-assured, more measured in his responses.

...and the million $$ smile was still there, not too far from the surface.

The reality for our franchise is, so goes Newton, so go the Panthers...well at least for the next 3 years.

...in fairness, that Defense lost a few games too, and obviously Gettleman thought so as well, thus the focus on DT.  QBs who are on their back don't make throws.
