Tropical Storm Watch issued as Andrea moves toward SC

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Tropical Storm Andrea has formed in the Gulf of Mexico prompting tropical storm watches in our area.

The storm is expected to move from the central Gulf of Mexico on Thursday across the Florida panhandle Thursday night and through eastern South Carolina on Friday.

This will keep the area under a very moist tropical flow resulting in widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.

Some of the showers and thunderstorms will contain very heavy rainfall capable of producing flooding. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts will be possible.

Current tracks take it towards the southeast coast over the next 48 hours. One model takes it though South Carolina up I-95, another along the coastal waters.

The tropical storm watch affects the following counties: Berkeley, Jasper, coastal Beaufort, Colleton, coastal Charleston and tidal Jasper.

The forecast still means lots of rain possible though Friday.

Uhhh, I got bad news for you.

One of my wife's Travel Agent friends was there when it hit. Road it out several floors up in a big hotel. Not pretty.

Sheesh how old is that video. lol

But bigger chance of a hurricane hitting Charleston then Hawaii.

My birthday is Friday and we were gonna throw down on the beach. F*ck man, why do they always seem to come through Wilmington on the weekends!?

It's still a great time to go to the beach, put on a wet suit and go surfing or pick a nearby lake and do some windsurfing. Both really fun. Also really interesting to play football in a hurricane as well.

Not much of a surfer nor have I ever kite surfed. We were just gonna take the boat out to Masonboro, probably get smashed, and then crash for the night, but the storm ruined the plans.
