Good Story

The lesson to be learned is never try and save 3 people who are drowning by going in after them even if you are a good swimmer. Take the time to find a stick rope or something to throw them. He was a brave man but if he knew what to do the kids and he could both be safe. Basic water rescue teaches you when you do what he did often you become another casualty. You don't stand there and you don't just jump in either. Brave then ends up being foolhardy.

This is the truth! I used to be a lifeguard, one of the first things we were taught was that a drowning person will drown you!!

Exactly. A drowning panicked person will pull you down with them. Even if you approach them you throw them a shirt or rope so they don't jump you in their panic to get above the water. I posted that hoping folks would think about that. Truth is he is being revered for his bravery which he deserves but he did the exact opposite of what he should have done.

Like you I have had lifeguard training. I also teach scouts safe swim defense safety afloat and things like CPR first aid. I make sure all my boys know what to do to be safe and smart. Safe beats the hell out of sorry.

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
