Which LB's will be in our 3rd down package?

Beason will back up Davis as long as he stays healthy....

If we are only fielding 2 Lbs (like in a Nickel formation) I really doubt Beason will on the field over Davis.  TD covers more ground, is better in pass coverage (he was drafted as a safety) and is a better pass rusher.  Him and Keuchly made a spectacular cover combo down that final stretch and were pretty much able to account for all the space a 3rd LB will normally pick up.  They both have absurd closing speed on the ball too.

I don't expect them to do this, nor would I be shocked if they did alternate between all 3 who comes off. Luke would always be the middle, Thomas would always be outside, and Jon can alternate between the two. We could do much worse than to have our DROY Mike LB backed up by a LB that went to the Pro Bowl also playing Mike.

Oh my... I read ur comment before I had my coffee and my jumbled brain had it all wrong.  For some reason I thought u were saying Beason would 100% get the nod over TD.

*facepalm*

TD is the fastest LB we have and Luke isnt far behind. We might have the best cover duo in football right now. Kuechly isnt as fast asTD but has fantastic instincts. Davis after 3 knee surgeries supposedly was still running sub 4.5 40s which is amazing.

Now that it's been so long since his last injury, Davis's bum knee aint so bum anymore. In fact, if you asked him, he'd probably tell you that knee is stronger than his natural knee now. My Dad had the same surgery, and about a year afterwards his hurt knee was stronger than his normal one cause the scar tissue had a chance to really get anchored in his bones and whatnot. TD's knee will never come apart again.

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
    • very helpful.  I read back in this thread where they might try Jarvis at C--I thought he and Aho had good chemistry, however.  Nonetheless, he could expand his value there, and now we have a guy who can play jarvis' spot.  Freddie is a pro, no doubt--and as little as I know about the inner workings of strategy and positions, I could tell Burns was burning us at times.  I figured he'd retire and I was looking forward to it.  FWIW, they have Jarvis listed as a C on the 2025-26 roster.
