2013 Steam Summer Sale

Dex

Recommended Posts

I believe it begins today so feel free to post what you bought, plan on buying or just current and upcoming deals.

If this is your first time participating in the steam summer sale there are some things you should know. Some deals only last a few hours and the deals can range from 10 to 75 percent off or more. Most games do go on sale so try to practice patience. This is a great opportunity so don't miss out on picking up a game or 30. Happy shopping.

I was about to make this post haha.

I probably won't buy as much as usual since Amazon, Green Man Gaming, and some other sites now offer sweet deals throughout the year, but I'll probably end up dropping cash anyway lol.

I'm looking for a Sleeping Dogs complete pack (all DLC, not just 10 or so that some packs have) for hopefully $10-12

Dishonored for cheap

Far Cry 3 for cheap

I may finally get the Hitman pack with the old games since I got Absolution some time back, just to complete the set

Maybe Max Payne pack too

And I'm sure a lot of Indy titles, Fez for instance, etc.

Far Cry 3 potentially will be 24 dollars tomorrow for anyone who hasn't played it.  Go out there and vote if you want that over Dishonored and Borderlands 2.  I own all three so I couldn't care less either way....

I voted Dishonored because at $10 that's a way better deal than FC3 at $24.  I'm bummed FC3 isn't cheaper than that, I'll just wait.

If Dishonored wins I'll most definitely pick that up.

I'm learning toward Counterstrike GO right now for $5, haven't picked that up yet.  Maybe a 4-pack of LFD if my friends will commit to some co-op.

I haven't played Borderlands 2 yet. Any good?

same as borderlands 1 if you played that. it's fun if you enjoy character progression. i never got around to finishing it.

dishonored was fun but my advice to those who haven't played it would be to play it at the highest difficulty and don't max out blink and time stop. they make the game a breeze, even on the highest difficulty.

Dishonored is the only thing on my radar for this year.  I just bought cube world and kerbal space program and I still play minecraft a lot so I really don't have much time to play anything else.  Last night I noticed I still haven't played witcher 2 yet either.  First world gamer problems....

Its fun to finish the entire game without being seen.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
