Tiger just plunked his first tee shot into the waist high swale and is hitting a provisional off the tee. Provisonal goes into more swale.

 

But they have found his first which may be unplayable.

Slept pretty crappily last night, woke up around 4:50, got up and watched the Open for 90 minutes.  Awesome.

 

Pulling for Phil to win his first Open, 3 back of the leaders after round one.

Phil and Z. Johnson have come off the course and called the pin placements absurd. Johnson said he was "shocked" bu a few.

 

Phil says the players in the afternoon will not shoot low numbers because of the course getting baked.

Makes Johnson's and O'Meara's 5 under even more impressive if they thought the pin placements were tough.

 

One of the commentators was talking about how one of the young players had a beautiful swing and then paused and said, "Well nowadays, which of these guys DON"T have a beautiful swing?"  Kind of summed up my feelings about golf today, most all of the new guys have identical swings that look perfect.  Except Bubba.

There was some serious post Round 1 whining by Poulter and Co.

 

They best replicate the course Friday exactly as it was today so when the tee times are flip flopped all is fair.

On another note, I really, really want to get over there and watch an Open.  It's the only major I have not been to.  I'd love to go next year for St Andrews.

The Open is my least favorite of the majors. No trees, no green grass, always wind and the weather sucks 90% of the time. They may as well be playing in a cow pasture.

 

I've been to Augusta and I worked a US Open- I'm satisfied.
