Wharton Meeting With Panthers

If we already owe Wharton money, this is the easiest way to add depth.

We don't owe him money. The dead cap salary we have on the books was paid to him years ago. He got the money in his signing bonus when he signed the contract. It is just prorated over the life of the deal.

Frankly, I was happy to see Wharton go, but I think it was due to his salary.  At the vet minimum I like him more.  if he moves Hangman to a reserve, better still.

Hangartner is not a great RG--it is probably the third best position for him on the OL--so in fairness to Hangman, he does a heck of a job being versatile.  That makes him a great backup.  He is worth his salary as a reserve, but not as a starter--that does not seem to make sense on the surface, but he does not save a roster spot as a starter.

I'm originally from Scarborough... probably about 25 minutes north of Ogunquit and right outside of Portland. However, I'm living outside of Boston this summer because I am interning with the Patriots.

So I guess we're going after him b/c of Hurney Magic?

Not sure if this has already been discussed, but what does the non-football injured list mean for bryant?

Edit. I guess it's similar to PUP?

yeah it is similar for guys injured in non football related situations. He counts against the 90 man roster and can come off at any time during training camp.

    • If we don't extend him, there is no way another team would offer him more than a one year $10m prove it deal lol.
    • He isn’t but looking at what those guys are getting paid, paying him what he’s making now wouldn’t have been terrible, they should have and still should be looking at pairing some guys with brown to form a pretty dominant d line
    • The Bryce hate is nearly laughable.  He looked like garbage the first two games, but has really, really shown improvement and growth.  People who know football are taking notice.  Will Bryce ever be Arron Rodgers, Farvre, Manning or any other hotshot gunslinger?  No, but I think he is a smart football player who has survived a lot more than most other QB's would have after 2.5 years.  So long as this injury doesn't linger I think you will see legitimate growth over the next two years, with a big leap coming next season. Reich and Brown not working together, Duce causing trouble behind the scenes.  Starting WR's of Mingo and Chark.  No legitimate scheme for the OL.  Fitterer's general incompetence. An owner who was desperate for attention.  How did Zac Wilson, Mariota, Winston, Tribuski, Rosen, Lawarence, Fields, Jones, Pickett, and Richardson fair after 2.5 years?  We see what happens when the Texans have not given Stroud the support. The 2018 draft had great talent, they just needed to mature, hell we wasted two of the top three drafted that year.  Outside of Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow, or Drake Maye, I'm not sure I really would want any other 1st round QB drafted in the past 10 years? RELAX......  Bryce is our guy as we grow as a team.  The only other option I currently see is maybe a buy low draft pick on Drew Allar if he falls to the third round or lower. Bryce is going to be extended.  He won't get Prescott money which would benefit our team going forward.  A mid range extension like Darnold or Baker got may be just the thing this team needs to keep growing.
