How comfortable are all of you with Garry?

not at all. that DL is going to have to go at him hard hard relentlessly for a whike and him totally hold his own before i come anywhere near close to being comfortable. felt the same way about hangartner and anyone else on that right side, tbh.

that right side is going to be the thing that holds us back this season. they need to get real about trying to address it, and i mean something more than cutting loose the one guy with any kind of experience.

How comfortable am I with the sad OL Carolina is putting in front of Cam Newton......now entering his 3rd year? Not very. We finally get an absurdly talented QB and are making him jump through hoops to survive. That seems smart.

Pretty much can watch week 1 of 2012 and get a good idea of what is in store for week 1 of 2013.

I think we sign somebody, nothing against Gary, but the timing of this cut doesn't make any sense. Hangman at least has versatility to play any interior position, not awesomely, but better than many other backups. I don't think you just discard that for what? Williams' peace of mind? Cap room when there's no one to sign? Another body coming in is my guess.

What I'm comfortable with is our GM.  He's been killin it so far this offseason.  I have complete faith in him, and assume that he will get the Oline fixed up just like he has other positions of need.  Dude has been with us for all of half a year, and he's already turned this sinking ship around.  He's a total bad ass, and hell of a lot better at managing a team than all of us put together.  I'm not going to second guess every move he makes, because he's been right on every turn so far.

1.5 mil less?

Hangartner's performance did not live up to his salary. That's why he's gone. I have no issue with the move in that regard.

I do, however, believe he was, and is, better than Garry Williams. Though truth be told, I don't think either of them should be starters.

Mind you, it's possible that Hangman gets brought back at vet minimum to be a backup. Not holding my breath on that though.

Honestly don't know.  Tbh I am worried about LG and well as RG.   I mean everyone here is giving Silatolu a pass and he was very bad last year as well.  However everyone is saying he improved since he better near the end of the year.  Maybe William improved but couldn't show it because he wasn't on the field.  I am fairly sure that Coaches and GM's aren't going to put someone out there who obviously cannot play the position.  Especially when its a make or break season for Rivera and thus the rest of the coaching staff.

Also factoring in that our DL is probably top 5 in the league, maybe the OL is better than everyone thinks.  So I think I'm gonna just see what the GM and coaching staff does. Like I said earlier... honestly don't know.

    • CJ Allen is being mad undersold here. He’s very much a lock for the 1st and the next LB behind Styles/Reese. Totally in play with the available OL, McNeil-Warren and some others at 19. If you look at our holes and who creates the most, surest, immediate impact it’s Allen and M-W for me. His game is complete, balanced skillset, top defender, leader, all pluses.  Hill Jr has the upside but isn’t in his tier. He is more Rodriguez/Lawson/Louis/Golday/Trotter in the offball group. That whole tier will be hard to predict order wise bc it’s in the eye of the beholder/what teams think fits best. All have great skills but aren’t on Allen’s level. No order but Thieneman, CJ Allen, Freeling, Fano, McNeil-Warren, Mesidor, and sure Saddiq will all be in consideration.  It will come down to who really gives us the biggest impact and long term fit. It’s a fun group to think on.
    • Its about time as a franchise we cut ties with this dude, nothing good is going to come from him being associated and working with the team
