First Half Observations

I actually pondered that notion

I'd still have to be talked into the idea that he should be the number three over David Gettis.

I'd prefer to be convinced by the play on field.  Right now Gettis is making a case that's for sure.

What is scary to me is that I see Shula's offense in Shula's offense.

And what I mean by that is that I'm seeing the 1996-1999 Shula offense.

They've talked real big about "keeping" elements of Chud's offense, but I don't see'em.

What I see is the predictable run-run-pass-punt short-yardage scheme he ran down in Tampa.  And so far, it sucks.

I remember someone mentioned the OL had issue last year not due to lack of talent but because of injury. So far I'm not impressed. Hopefully that's the case.

I always say you have to look at trends in the preseason more then any individual play, and what I've taken away from the preseason so far is:

1, O-line is struggling, offense seems slow to develop plays.

2, Defense is getting turnovers, they have for whatever reason just been happening.

I'm really curious to see how this develops in the 3rd game, by the end of the first half of that game we are going to know something.

overall I feel better about the defense going into the season but worse about the Offense.

It was disappointing, but I kinda had a feeling this would happen. The 2nd half is looking more of the same which tells me it's a preparation issue.

The thing with preseason is that it is very inconsistent in itself. It shows when we played so well against the Bears and are absolutely turrible tonight. A lot of things are going on outside of the team's intention to win these preseason games.

Can't say I am "worried" about any aspect of this team just yet. But I've taken notice of some the holes that the Eagles are punching. The OLine wasn't too bad last week but are getting raped tonight. The Defense was awesome last week, especially the DLine, but we're barely getting any push up front and the secondary are all slack-jawed.

Were the Bears that bad or are the Eagles that good? Hard to tell...getting kicked in the teeth during preseason is not exactly a bad thing, but all the negatives have to be corrected instead of ignored. Else, we'll be having some problems.
