Panthers vs Seahawks Tailgate...

Carolina Huddle and The Growler Tailgate are partnering up this year for tailgating fun.

Fellow Huddler RoaringRiot runs these tailgates and does so in great fashion. It is a block party feel with a live band and plenty of games and entertainment.

"The Growler"is Charlotte's only block party-style tailgate party open to the public before every Panthers home game.  We are located on the corners of 4th & Graham Streets - just a few blocks away from BoA Stadium.  Admission is FREE. Ticket upgrades are available.

The tailgate is located here: http://goo.gl/maps/ZfKnf

There will be a live band, games, and plenty of fun. This week the tailgate is catered by Mac's Speed Shop.

While admission is free, there are ticket upgrades you could/should purchase. For 30 bucks you can eat, drink, and enjoy the tailgate without having to bring or cook anything. Its really a great deal. If you are a high roller, there are VIP tickets for a more luxurious experience.

Portions of the proceeds for each week go to a charity. This week the charity is Blondes vs Brunettes

You can purchase tickets here ...

I'm happy to have The Growler be the host for the Huddle Tailgate Party.  What we do is not exactly the same as what you all have done for the past few years, but we do offer some cool amenities and change can be good (Hurney).  Here are some points to help clarify and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

  • We start the party three hours before the game (typically 10am since most of our games are 1p on Sunday).
  • For Sunday games we cannot serve beer until 12p, so we do a BYOB from 10a-12p.  This is why we have to limit the BYOB ticket to 6 beers
  • The tailgate runs until halftime (approx. 2:30pm).  The VIP area stays open until about an hour after the game (approx. 5p)
  • I've rented the entire lot so there are no cars on the lot, but we have parking spaces right across the street we can use.  They were charging $20 for those spaces for the preseason games, so hopefully they won't jack them up for the regular season
  • We will have a good local band at each party.
  • We will either have a food truck or two or Mac's Speed Shop cooking at each party.

So again, it's different from the past, but hopefully you'll come out and give it a shot and enjoy yourselves.

Unrelated but I can't start topics-

The last game I went to was 2004 where I was able to scalp lower level tickets for $20 each.

In recent years how hard is to scalp tickets outside the stadium?  And what should I expect to pay for lower level seats? upper level?

Also should I be worried about the tickets being fake?  How can I tell?

Thank you!!

Want to take my son to his first game.

I spend most of my money trying to get CofC girls hammered (by the flesh hammer, heyooooo) and whatever is left goes to gas fumes and parking. Is there a cheaper ticket that will allow me to sample food without shame?

Hey! Guess who's making the trek to the Queen City from eastern NC for the season opener? This guy!!

Is there a secret handshake? Do you ask people what their username is? Does everybody speak in meme? Is it a total young dude helmet fest or would my wife have a good time? (We both are just into our 40s, but very immature.)

    • It's not impossible to go from worst to first.  We kept Evero because anyone in there right mind knew our defense was destroyed by injuries, not the scheme.  Evero has been given a plethora of talent between free agency and the draft, not to mention getting DB back. I fully expect our defense to be very good.  I have no reason to think Jones would say something like that unless he truly felt like that.
    • We would’ve played Florida and lost in the 1st instead of the 3rd round.  Montreal would have been the 8 seed.
    • I can't get behind a purely subjective re-draft as a method of defining "top-10 QB" status. That invites bias based on vibes/hypotheticals and can ignore actual on-field performance. You and others have said that Bryce has to be a top-10 QB to justify the pick. That's a high bar, which I'm not against, but we need a clear, consistent way to measure it. When I bring up metrics that Bryce has registered in the top-10 in like BTT%, P2S ratio, catchable deep ball rate, etc... they're waved off as either irrelevant or the expected baseline performance. Meanwhile, volume stats like passing yards or win-loss records, both of which depend heavily on roster talent, health, and coaching, are treated as definitive. That's where the inconsistency kicks in. If no performance metric ever counts in his favor and the answer is always going to be "he should be doing that," then we're not evaluating him... we're just holding him to a curve he can't win against. If this is really about performance standards, then let's define them. But if it's just about confirming prior takes based on height and weight, then let's call it what is it and stop pretending that this is a football analysis discussion.
