Top 10 Smurfs in the NFL?

Recommended Posts

These lists keep getting better and better. For point of reference, this would be the top ten short guys in the NFL.

Anyway, #2 and #1 are the ones you wanna read.

2. DeAngelo Williams, Panthers RB

The 5-foot-9 Williams enjoyed his breakthrough season in 2008, leading Carolina's dynamic RB duo along with Jonathan Stewart, who is listed at 5-foot-10. The Panthers' 2006 first-round pick ran for 1,515 yards last season (third in NFL) despite only 273 carries, plus topped all players with 20 touchdowns while more than doubling his combined production from his first two seasons.

1. Steve Smith, Panthers WR

One of the top two or three receivers in football, Smith (5-foot-9, 185 pounds) has earned four Pro Bowl berths and remains a top-notch deep threat and reliable target for Panthers QB Jake Delhomme. Smith ranked in the NFL's top five in both receiving yards (1,421) and yards per catch (18.2) while topping everyone with eight 100-yard games (tied with Andre Johnson) and an average of 101.5 receiving yards. If not for his early-season suspension for slugging a teammate, he'd have probably led the NFL in yardage. The most amazing part of Smith's game is his ability to win jump balls, often against double coverage from taller cornerbacks.

we've drafted a lot of average or above average size players... I wouldn't expect them to draft a 6'5 CB or RB.. WR, yeah, Jarrett is tall.

Can't say I agree with "we've never drafted really tall players"... Most of our draft picks are average size for their position..

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
