Are you a Cynic or a Realist?

Because it's been your angle for quite some time on here. Take a "benefit of the doubt" stance on almost everything panthers related, someone disagrees with you, and then you go back and forth until you get annoyed enough to start judging their character in a vacuum.

I'd like to be optimistic and say at some point you'll stop posting and subsequently enhance everyone else's forum experience, but realism is overriding my outlook on that subject.

Thank you for your opinion.  I for one always welcome your optimism and objective views.

Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet .  Sorry if I missed it.

you are a psychologist and i said i took 6 psychology courses in college......uh. how does one miss that

my six psychology courses in college tell me you are very defensive when somebody is seemingly threatening your ego or iq

Forgive me but after reading many posts on here I don't assume that everyone would  think they were not equivalent. Many people who played football in high school think they are a football expert and know more than Gettleman, Rivera or Shula. Why wouldn't it extend to psychology?

No I am a psychologist who specializes in positive psychology approaches.  So occasionally I drop some nuggets of knowledge here to that effect.  Typically it is pearls before swine but I keep trying.

That's great, and all, but stop trying to tell me and others who we are with all that psycho mumbo jumbo.

You've gotten on a high horse as of late (just my opinion). Some subjects deserve optimism, some deserve pessimism, some deserve cynicism, and some deserve realism---and it's all based upon perspective and opinion. One man's realism is literally another man's cynicism. You cannot necessarily define a person (even under the veil of academia) if you haven't walked in that person's shoes. At many times, labeling is deceptively used as a means of censorship, and I am not likely to graciously accept it, particularly on a message board---a football message board, no less---that by it's very nature is designed for discussion (in hopefully a civil manner), and is meant to kick around different points of view.

You are free to express your opinion on whatever you would like. Why am I not given the same respect? I didn't list everyone and put them in a category, I put it out for discussion.  Based on some conversation I made a comment which people can reject or not.  Why so defensive that you can't ignore what you don't want to agree with.  Then you try and tell me to stop something which is in fact the same kind of censorship you are deriding.  I love these hypocritical comments where posters say don't tell me what to say and then in the next sentence tell someone else to shut up......

In general I give everyone respect, and, as you should know, I have given you  a lot of respect over the years.  It's just that I am not going to let you unilaterally define me without responding in kind.

I know where you are coming from. I see it. But being that this is a message board, we are forced to take the bad with the good, and that's just the nature of the beast. I just take issue with you trying to lump me in with some of the bad apples because I don't generally post things just to come out of my ass with some random negativity, stupidity, or rudeness, so I kinda resent the implication.

And if this were their first post it might be, but most of the people disagreeing with the definitions which aren't mine by the way do the same thing with everything.  It is looks like a duck, quack likes a duck and acts like a duck it might be a duck.

When the same outcome keeps repeating itself, when does being "negative" stop being cynical? I realize this isn't exactly related to the thread, just trying to increase my knowledge since this is in your line of work. (I know I could google but that mostly just pulls up articles like "how to stop being so damn cynical" which isn't what I'm looking for)

    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
    • I think a lot of us are feeling this way, enough is enough. There is absolutely no reason to subject the fans of your team to another full season of Bryce fuging Young. I already don't watch like I used to,I miss games and don't even care. Before I was always at the games or in my recliner when the game started now what's the point. Bryce won't have more than 50 yards passing by halftime anyway.   It's crazy how we watch these other teams dump a trash QB quickly yet here we are in year 3 still hoping he will get better, news flash,he won't. I'm not down for year 4,wake me up if we ever decide to replace the mistake.  fug it I can spend more time with my family or making money, fug Tepper.
