Cousin's fiance just called to invite me to dinner Thursday. I'm going to be a groomsmen.

Nothing to it, but if you are broke you need to start saving some $$$.

You are supposed to go, if not help finance and plan the batch party, as well as have a nice suit for the rehearsal dinner, and a tux.

Expect to spend at least 1,000 on the entire ordeal, unless you cheap it on the batch party.

typically all you do is stand around and hit on the bridesmaids.

but you have a girlfriend so you'll probably be bored the entire time...

try not to look around in a state of boredom, do not let the boredom make you laugh at inopportune moments, try not to fart out of sheer boredom (especially during prayer and random moments of silence), and last but not least- try hitting on a few bridesmaids, all the rest will work itself out eventually.

oh, and carry a few Panthers jerseys for the garter/flower toss..  It would appear like them ducks need to reevaluate their priorities...

hmm round these parts here groomsmen are responsible for seating the guest and walking in parents and grandparents (other than the Brides Father of course) in at the beginning of the ceremony.

2 usually stand by the doors asking " Bride  or Groom" and sitting Family/ friends accordingly.

@ the the very beginning of the ceremony  You will probably have to walk grandparents and a mother down and then finally go back to get a bridesmaid.   That just how it works where I from.

The only really tasking part of the process ( if its done this way)  Is asking people to make room once the pews start filling up.  Honestly some people think they gonna get only 4 on that pew  MOVE OVER  fancy pants we sitting 6 there!

i remember at one wedding i was a groomsmen the bride mispronounced a bunch of words and one of my friends started giggling uncontrollably which made all the groomsmen start busting up laughing. imagine this kind of nervous giggling happening during the ceremony.

Last year I'm in my friend's wedding, standing with all the groomsmen, and bitching about my android's "autistic version of siri" just as the brides cousin (autistic) comes walking his 87 year old grandmother right behind us...

I don't know which was more embarrassing..  them trying to hold in their laughter (at my awesome ability to insert foot in mouth at just the right time) or them overhearing the conversation..

If you're not going to be the Best Man, then it should be really easy. You'll need to chip in for the bachelor party and be part of the wedding processional, but other than that, you're not really on the hook for anything. You can say a few words at the reception, but if you don't no one will think it odd. It's customary for the groom to buy his groomsmen gifts, so you'll be on the receiving end of that. Just have money for your tux rental and for the party fund and you'll be in good shape. As others have said, if you're single, the single bridesmaids and friends are fair game and many are usually looking to hook up.

The only part that will be weird/kinda suck for you in particular will be if the groom's friends make constant mention of his sex life with your cousin. It's par for the course for most bachelor parties, but it's just creepy/weird when the bride is related to you. Since you're getting to meet everyone a year in advance, most of the guys will probably have time to get a sense of how close you are with your cousin, so maybe they'll keep all that talk amongst themselves.

If you are single and have the funds, make sure you get a hotel room at or close to the reception venue. And always pay the extra $5-$10 for the damage waiver on your tux.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
