To rock my Beason jersey when I go to the 49ers vs Panthers this year.

Beason was one of my favorite Panthers, that will never change, I dont care what team he plays for.

I hope Jon Beason bounces back and becomes the great MLB that he still is IMO.....

Good Luck to you Beast in NY.....

Yeah, wearing a Beason jersey is not an issue, but let's get down to what really matters:  Why do you have a framed Starbucks menu on your wall?

My lady had a sorority sister that use to work there while they were in college.  It was a graduation gift.  One that I would love to take of the wall and burn it, but it would deeply upset my lady who likes to hoard useless poo.

BTW, I hate Starbucks.

You know what this sucks. First round pick traded away for a dude that's not even going to make the team next year.

WE TRADED STAR FOR A 7TH GTFO!!

Uh...what?

just being sarcastic.

We are not trading the all-pro version of Jon Beason.  We are trading the 4 games played the past two season Jon Beason.  The "may not ever be a starter in the NFL again" Jon Beason.  The free agent after this season Jon Beason.

Not 1st round pick Jon Beason.

I'm not saying the guy is playing the best he ever has.  But if he makes it through this year unscathed by injury, by late season he might be making a return to form.  Hell even if he got back to form 80 percent it's still more valuable then a 7th rounder.  Yes he would have been a FA next year, but wouldn't not have demanded a high contract.   If we could just held onto him, he could have been more valuable as depth then any late round pick could have been.

Fair points, but in the end this is best for Beason.  He gets a chance to be a starting MLB again.  That was not happening here.

I know you're a long time poster on this board.  I know that you give thoughtful responses.  I truly do empathize with wanting whats best for players that have sacrificed a lot for the Panther's organization.  But really what would have been best for Jon was to be depth this year, get some game reps, and not have to deal with the pressure.  Play while getting healthy and returning to form.   I'm not sure if you're an ex athlete or not.  But what I have found is that it takes some time to get back into the swing of things after serious injury, but can be done and really will be done with commitment and patience.  Hell....look at Thomas Davis....what if we would have traded him for a 7th round pick a year ago.  Glad we didn't. Obviously the Giants made the trade because they want JB to start at MLB.  But if that's what they want from Jon they could have given us more then a 7th.  Regardless of an emotional point of view involved Rivera and Gettleman had a responsibility to get the best deal and if the deal wasn't good enough they should have told the G's to poo off. This was not the best deal.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
