Seattle Loss

Way Truth Life

Five reasons why the Panthers lost.

1)  Greg Olsen had three 1st down drops two on 3rd down killing the drive.

2)  Carolina had three 15 yard personal foul penalties and one re-kick which kept Seattle's offense on the field once and improved their field position from the 9 yard line to the 28 yard line on a kick off because Seattle elected for a re-kick rather than the penalty.

3)  Rivera should have thrown the challenge flag on DeAngelo Williams first down run where he was at least a yard past the first down marker, but marked down short and the Panthers punt.

4)  DeAngelo Williams fumble on the 5 yard line with 5:30 to play.

5)  Panther's defense collapsed during the last 5 minutes and rather than tackle everyone tried to strip the ball.  Seattle's yardage after catch or initial contact during this series was ridiculous.

Overall the Panther's coaches did a decent job, but it was obvious that Rivera can NOT finish a game.  Panther's were leading in the 4th as usual and Rivera was out coached.  The defense went soft and DeAngelo's fumble killed the Panthers, but the three 1st down drops by Olsen during the 1st half cost the Panther's points.  Every first down matters and Rivera should have challenged the DeAngelo 1st down run in the first half as well.

When you watch a great coach like Belichick you see a coach that does not allow opportunities slip away and it doesn't start in the 4th quarter, it starts on Monday when he is watching game film and preparing.  Rivera is unprepared and it shows.

Everyone should buy the NFL replay package for $29.99.  HD quality games as many times as you care to watch.

the success rate on overturning spot of the ball calls is like 3% or somethign ridiculous.

That flag should never be thrown ever.

Bellichick challenges spot of ball calls almost every game.

It was the 1st half and the Panthers had timeouts in their pocket at half time.  It most definitely should have been challenged.....clearly a first down.

I just went through the entire first half.

What play are you even talking about?

in the end, the only reason carolina lost the game was williams's fumble.

despite all the other mishaps and mistakes, the panthers were in the game the entire time. the fumble kept the winning points off the board, energized seattle and deflated carolina's defense.

I thought that too 5 weeks ago.

Carolina should have had a larger lead on Seattle going into the 4th quarter and their time of possession should have been greater, but those mistakes cost them.  The 4th quarter was a defensive meltdown and Seattle gained 170 yards.  Simply unacceptable.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
