Ideal 1st Round Pick for Carolina [UPDATED]

Hard to say how the draft will play out, but we can't forget how unusual the 2013 draft was, with no QBs and 6 of the top 11 OL. This reason alone makes me think linemen will fall with few teams wanting to to OL in the first in back to back years, many QB needy teams, etc.

Ideal means the best possible choice (IE guy who won't be there).

That's either Jake Matthews or Sammy Watkins, you could make a pretty even case for both.

Now if we're looking at who will realistically be there...

Marqise Lee

Cyrus Kouandjio/James Hurst

Ifo

Eric Ebron

One of those five guys where I expect us to be picking and I will feel good...

I think if the Panthers make the playoffs, all the top OT talent will be gone by the time we pick in the late teens,

Will probably go with a falling WR, CB or TE.

this

but I'm leaving more toward tight end, ebon or austin. this could give us protection and a weapon at the same time. plus we were rumored to get one last draft if star didn't fall to us

I'ts entirely possible that we try to address WR in FA and I think DG may prefer that approach where we can get a proven guy who can play. We've been sitting on LaFell, Armanti, and Gettis for a long time.

Would love to take an OT and shift Gross back to RT. If we can resign Wharton and Amini comes back healthy that's one hell of an offensive line.

Are there any quality TE's coming out? Remeber we were targeting Eifert before Star dropped to us.

If we draft late, and there is no T, I am willing to bet that Gross will sign up for one more year. We will be thinking super bowl if that happens.  There are also some decent Tackles that will be around in the second round.

Ebron makes a ton of sense because he and Olsen can block or split out wide.  He is a big target, has good hands, and he can block better than 2 or our current TEs.  To me, I would rather have Ebron than the 5th WR.....

If not Ebron, there are some stud CBs in this draft.  Imagine if we could put a solid CB at #1, White on the #2, and Munnerlyn in the slot?

Do not be surprised if we draft an OLB fairly high.  Davis is getting up there in age and the elderly Blackburn will be on the last year of his contract.  Klein is probably never going to be a first day starter.  We lost Beason without replacing him.

I wonder how early Jordan Matthews will go because he'd be my dream pick.  But given how lucky we were in last years draft with Star, we'll probably get Marqise Lee who'll turn out to be Dwayne Jarrett 2.0.

You realize how fuging lazy that comparison is don't you?

    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
    • In fairness, she is ensuring she is talked about.  People really aren’t going out there way to bring her up.  It’s some weird poo.  She would end up getting talked about given her actions if she was 40. Bill realizing some of these high end “companions” got a game of their own.  That’s what I don’t think Bill saw coming.
