Brooks on Panthers: "I know a lot of people that think their defense is a playoff-caliber defense. Luke Kuechly and them are playing well."

Brooks on Panthers: "Their offense is at it's best when they can run the ball early and Cam Newton can use play-action to throw down field."

Brooks says the Panthers defense has been really good and this season it's almost been like "what can the offense do to help them out some".

Brooks says this weekend for St. Louis is a "big game" for the Panthers' playoff chances and head coach Ron Rivera.

Brooks: "I think the perception of Cam in Charlotte is skewed...He is still young enough to develop into an elite quarterback."

Brooks asks if the Panthers have done all they can to get the best out of Cam. He says they haven't, he says Panthers need more talent on O.

Brooks on Cam Newton and critics saying we should look to replace him: "There's not a lot of guys out there that are as talented as him."

Brooks picks the Panthers over the Rams this weekend because the Panthers defense is "just a little bit tougher".

Brooks: "We talk about Cam Newton but it's like we're giving Sam Bradford a hall pass. He hasn't done anything to think he's a franchise QB"

It was agreat interview and he is a definite must follow on Teitter.

He has a good podcast as well. I think Bucky Brooks will be a regular from here on out.

I hope his speculation about a possible faction that only sees QB as a traditional pocket passer position to be wrong...but I feel it is not.

also some comments about eric ebron (thought it was interesting considering the thread from last night).

Brooks on Eric Ebron: "He's one of the most athletic TEs in college football today." Compares him to Jimmy Graham.

Brooks on Eric Ebron: "He finally had that breakout game we were all waiting for, now it's whether or not he can sustain it."

Brooks on Eric Ebron: "If he keeps this up, he's got star written all over him at the next level."

Saying anyone is on par with Bradford is like the same thing as saying he sucks.

I mean a guy that's had less weapons than Cam and a shittier O-line...

I'd take Cam over him in a heartbeat but don't poo on the guy. He's no Blaine Gabbert.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
