I think we finally have an identity.

I am now at the point where I know what I can expect from this team going forward every Sunday. The goal on offense is to ground and pound and control the time of possession. We are a run heavy offense with mid-deep passes mixed in. We are a physical, stout, bend dont break defense that is also very turnover opportunistic. The first few games, it was hard to tell what kind of team we were. One game all we did was pass, pass and pass and the next we ran a ton. Now we are run heavy mixed in with passing.

If I had to pick a team to compare with I would say we are a little bit like the Jets and Chiefs. Tough, stout D that boasts a balanced pass/run offense.

you could have summed it up with one word...foxball.

That is perfectly fine with me. I dont mind Cam the game manager one bit aslong as he keeps putting up these numbers. I would liken Cam with Alex Smith under Harbaugh only with a ton more upside and great rushing ability and thats not a bad thing whatsoever considering Alex Smith was great under Harbaugh. Hes pretty good now with Reid

It's no Foxball.

Foxball was trying to sit on a lead captured on the first series.

Foxball was trying to run with 9-10 in the box.

Foxball was run, run, pass then punt.

Foxball wore out the draw in one game.

Foxball wouldn't allow the TE to be anything more than a skinny OL.

However, I have NO problems being somewhat conservative and playing to the strengths of the personnel- especially with a top 3 D and a very solid run game AND NOW a chance at the postseason.

You think Fox would allow a flea flicker TE screen?

There's not a huge difference with what the offense has been doing the past couple of weeks.  We just haven't had to press the passing game because our defense has been so stout.  One major difference is the execution of screen plays.

    • You don’t even need 1b because Tepper is the only one foolish enough to wheel that deal.    Player wise? Jake’s elbow. JR and Pep getting sideways, no Carruth, Cam’s shoulder, Luke’s concussions, it would be a long list of stuff. You can take it down to certain plays in games. Fox chasing 2 point conversions in the SB would be on my list. RMJr slipping at the end of that same game was not helpful.
    • Ultimately this just amounts to heavy revisionist history. I mean you aren't talking to someone that just popped out the womb a week ago. I was here all throughout the predraft process. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase felt like this was a fine situation and the best situation for a rookie QB to go to compared to Houston for example. The hype for Young and our "rockstar" staff was off the charts. No one could dare speak cautious skepticism of his abilities or they would be neg repped into oblivion. Only after he had one of statistical worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years did we get this narrative now that his rookie season actually shouldn't count. Complete malarkey if you ask me.
    • On the field? Since I guess it qualifies as multiple instances it might not count, but have the damn refs throw some flags on illegal hits to Cam's head in SB50. If that doesn't count, 1A. Cotchery caught it 1B. Kasey keeps that kickoff inbounds. Off the field? 1A. Team is sold to anyone but Tepper 1B. We have the patience not to mortgage the franchise on that Bryce trade. Stroudwpuldve been the better pick but he's not worth it either.
