Cam Newton this season

Shula deserves some credit to...designing and calling plays that put Cam in a better position.  I think the coaching of Cam is better this year.

I agree with you. I wasn't really sold on Shula but he has put together an excellent gameplan and the Offense is executing (Ginn still needs to work on those hands tho). We are a balanced team that can throw any look at a defense. I am loving this. Cam also is player better. I love how he is not forcing things but thinking what the defense gives him.

Agreed.

When did you ever see Cam throw to a wide open receiver last year, like when he did to Olsen early in the game (albeit with Cam escaping a potential sack to do it)?

Shula so far, has definitely put the Panthers offense and Cam in a better position to succeed. Imagine what Cam's night/stats would have looked like if Lafell and Ginn didn't have their drops (about 70-100 more passing yards, and a potential TD with Ginn)?

Let's hope this continues, and Cam doesn't have to be the total show (all out effort) in order for the offense to succeed.

Did you know?

Newton has 15 games with at least 200 yards passing, a touchdown pass and a touchdown run.

That’s tied with John Elway and Donovan McNabb for the fourth-most of any quarterback in the Super Bowl era. The only active quarterback with more is Michael Vick, with 17.

Steve Young has the most such games in that span, with 21.

Ranked 7th in the league in passer rating (minimum 100 attempts), tied for 3rd in total TDs, and tied 9th for completion % (minimum 100 attempts).

Over this 3 game stretch his passer rating averages out to 130.1

Dude has been on some other level poo the past 3 games and really... no QB has played better in that time span.  Not even Peyton.

And let's not forget he started off looking damn near perfect in that Arizona game as well until the team completely collapsed around him... if not for that happening his numbers/efficiency would be ridiculous right now.  Hell, they're already damn good.

GET THIS MAN A NEW CONTRACT

I'm very pleased with Cam. Let's not create a myth, he had errant throws in the past 3 games that could have been picked off, albeit only 2or 3 of them. He got away with it then ran away with it. He's running smart which gets the defense off balance. He's not just hitting guys wide open, he put some balls in some tight windows over the middle. He's always throwing on the sidelines, you can tell he is doing everything he can to get his throwing motion right. His leadership and interviews are miles better, even in the losses.

Cam is not having those flashy 400 yard passing games but boy is he playing well. It's really not fair to compare him to other passers because our offense has been so damn efficient. We have had 4 games decided before the start of the 4th quarter and Cam just running out the clock. He may need to bust out his arm for the Saints games so we will see what happens there. Would love to see that flexed.

I love how Shula and Rivera are constantly adapting the game plan and playcalling to suit the players we have rather than trying to fit them into a system they don't normally work in, which was one of my biggest problems with Fox as HC. The "rankless and tagless" mentality is going to go a long way towards making this team extremely cohesive in the future.
