Draft one, Sign one, Keep one

Is this a hypothetical where all the best prospects are on the board in the Draft?

If so I say Draft Jake Matthews

Sign Kenny Britt (no money for Nicks and Hardy/Cam deal)

Keep idk...they're all average at best, but OT and WR much more important to upgrade imo.

-Draft means use our first round pick

-Sign means free agency

-Keep means the answer is on the roster

The positions are: CB, OL, WR

Say who you would draft/sign and explain your reasoning.

Draft: WR Mike Evans, Texas A&M

I love Mike Evans. He is big, faster than you think, and catches everything thrown his way. Not only is he solid as a pass catcher, he is a great blocker. Also love his attitude. Wins are what matters to him, not stats. Listen to his press conferences after the two losses the Aggies suffered this year. He had great performances in those games- yet they didn't matter because the team lost.

Free Agency: RG Jon Asamoah, KC Chiefs

One of the more underrated Guards in the league right now. Would shore up the right side of the line.

Keep: CB Melvin White

Playing solid football right now. He is still a rookie and has potential, especially with Wilks coaching him up. As an UDFA he'll be cheap too.

As far as the draft goes, depends on your position, as follows:

If we pick around

15th  WR Evans        Texas A&M

20th  OT Richardson Tenn

25th  OG Richarson   Baylor

I think signing a Vet CB would be important.  In fact, I see Safety as a more important position for us.

Keeping

Hardy

Draft Mike Evans in the 1st, Gabe Jackson in the 2nd, De'Anthony Thomas in the 3rd. TRADE Lafell and our 2 5th rounders for 2 4th rounders, a 6th rounder and a 7th rounder. Draft Deion Belue, Mike Davis and Je'Wuan James in the 4th. Jeff Matthews and Stanley Jean-Baptiste in the 6th and Terrance Bullitt in the 7th. What cap space we have should be used to sign Cam and Hardy to long-term deals.

Draft- OL, Evans and Watkins, I like..but should be off the board. But Lewan, Matthews, Cyrus, Richardson, Collins, Erving, Robinson, man we got to get one of those tackles.

Sign-WR, Nicks, idk??? I would vote to burn our 2nd on best available WR. Whether we pick up a big time guy or not.

Keep-CB, Melvin, Cap, Thomas, whoever. CB's are the RB's of defense. Dime/dozen.

Draft CB: Verrett / Roby / Ifo

We're a corner away from having a nasty ass fug D for years to come.

Sign WR: Nicks / Maclin

We may have already put ourselves out of position to take a Watkins, Evans, or Lee. I don't believe that Nicks or Maclin will be able to demand big money. Possibly get one for the cheap.

Keep Wharton:

Wharton and Scott have played their asses off. Amini was looking like a stud but two straight years now going on IR. Wharton is productive and the worst he will provide legitimate depth for next season.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
