If Blackburn is out Klein will start per Rivera.

And Blackburn was undrafted so I'm not sure what your point is.

And Blackburn is just a stop gap kind of guy. You've been impressed enough by Klein on special teams and preseason to dub him DROY v.2.0? Righttttt, your foolish if you think there will not be a drop off. Blackburn is also more physically imposing and a veteran guy for an otherwise young defense.

Kuech 2.0

2.0 is nomenclature taken from computer software that signifies an update in software (assuming 1.0 was the first). This, you're saying Klein is an update/improved version of Kuechly. I'd definitely get rid of the 2.0 thing.

I've never compared Klein to anyone, ever. Pay attention. We drafted him so it's his time to step up and play. Foolish is discrediting a player just because he was drafted in the 5th round. Foolish is saying he wasn't meant to ever be a starter.

I'm not saying he's not a starter. Several people have compared him to Kuechly. I have seen no indication they are comparable except that they are both white and of similar build.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
