If Blackburn is out Klein will start per Rivera.

Blackburn, 9 year veteran. Klein, rookie. Star, rookie, Melvin white, rookie, Robert Lester, rookie. I worry about the amount of experience we have on the field. Do I doubt they can handle it? No I do not but a single mental mistake or over pursuit can kill you in a game like this.

I don't doubt Klein will be good but you also can't over qualify 5th round picks by saying that there are as many 5th rounders in the hall as 1st. Plus, Kuechly and Kiko Alonso are a dime a dozen players. I expect Kline to be respectable but I don't want to see a Buffalo-esque mix up.

KLEIN played lights out.  Outstanding performance for a rookie in his first start.

Has crow ever been so good. I think it's fair to say, "we struck gold", where the original 49ers were born.

Pluck a wing off for me too.  Though I was happy to see him play well.  Did I expect everything he did.. No way.

What a performance.

That sack he had was amazing.  Kapernick had in his face and he still made the sack. And got a 15 yd penalty to boot.

I thought it was Kuechly honestly. If Kuechly and Davis weren't our linebackers I don't think he'd look as good. I also don't think he will show out as much as Alonso though I do think he will get better as the season rolls along.

Our starters next season: Davis, Kuechly, Klein. It'll be interesting to see if he continues to play this season.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
