Much More Confident About NE Than SF

Recommended Posts

They are PFF subscriber stats so I don't have a link, but Cam is 3rd.

Newton also has a 120 passer rating on 3rd down (best in the league) and a couple weeks ago the panthers had the fewest 3 and outs in the NFL (no idea now)

That is ridiculous, incredible.  Going back in my head over many of the games this season...without a run game, on 3rd down there were a ton of passes and not all of them short and easy.  That is a very telling stat of what he is doing when it comes time to convert and the play calling.  PFF is awesome - but gets on my nerves when they try to rate and rank positional stats - OL, for example.

it's not so much that you're a complete buffoon so much as it is that everything you said was wrong and dumb

Thanks, but that's your opinion, and, well...yeah.

Why would Newton almost certainly have more yards than Brady? This isn't 2011 or 2012.....big play passing isn't what we do.

Also, we run and NE doesn't look to have the means to shut that down. On the other hand, we certainly look capable of making NE rather one dimensional.

All the will likely be able to do is pass.  I do not see a good chance of them running on this defense.  Their OL are pass blockers no road grading run blockers.  That's what makes me say this, it is a very strategic game and if it comes down to coaching and on the field experience it will be quite a show.

I'm sorry, I was exaggerating my feelings in a manner similar to the way you exaggerated Cam's mental state and the various strengths and weaknesses of both teams.

Could the Pats kick our ass? Absolutely. But that wouldn't be anything unusual, just like us whipping the Patriots wouldn't be. Football is a high variance sport and when your concerns center on retarded things like thought processes and faulty stats instead of actual critical thought you will get the shaming such malfeasance deserves.

Finally, I have to wonder about the emotional state of a person who takes the obvious ramblings of some random poster so readily to heart. A little visceral trash talk never hurt anyone; in fact, I much enjoy well-written diatribes directed at me.

Faulty stats?  That's funny, because with all of your big words you'd seem educated enough to know that stats do not tell the whole story.  I am a retard, but that's just coincidence.  Critical thought is much different then stats because I am going off of perception.  Now, perception is a vastly different world then statistics.  It is much more unreliable when it is used as improperly, much like stats.  How someone watches football and what they are watching contributes to their view.  Viewpoints can be wrong or even invalid but that is how it goes.  So be it.

My emotions were not damaged, nor am I frustrated, angry, etc.  I'm not the type.  I do get annoyed when people try to act like hardasses for no reason - especially on the internet.  I don't get the point.  On the street I don't act any different then I do here.  I haven't got my ass kicked yet there so I do not really expect that to happen here.  There just isn't much fun for me to trash talk, and when it is personal and you do not have any relationship with them it is dumb.  There is no reason I would not sit down to a beer with anyone here, just like share a round with anyone else in the world.  I don't hold grudges or puff my chest out.  It may seem it but i don't get my panties in a bunch over much of anything

Dude, you take Internet way too seriously. I will adjust my tone accordingly.

Now, part of the reason I took such a strong stance regarding your opinion is that we deal with the errors of perception constantly when it comes to Cam. It gets old hearing from people whose knowledge of the game could fit in a thimble go on national television and make up stories about towels (like Skip Bayless.) you should no enough from your years of watching football that perception doesn't fit reality the vast majority of the time, and so whether your opinion has merit or not is rooted not in the way you perceive things to be but the way you actually understand the game.

All this psychoanalysis of Cam is pure, unrelenting bunk: all that matters is production (and he's been VERY productive.)

Not to bump from the eternal abyss... I just get annoyed when, as a newcomer, I get ripped apart for a dissenting viewpoint.  All too often people don't share the same opinions.  I respect everyone here having their opinion - if I disagree then I don't care.

I'm a Bills fan, trust me, I know that dealing with media perception is a bitch.

Haha, sorry for making you feel unwelcome. I actually thought you were a Pats fan on that post and I had been jawing with one, so you got the full blast. My apologies.

just wait until I really get in to evil topics.

Maybe I'll get one this week. The topic? Keuchly is overrated against the pass. He struggles against the deep middle and for as big and strong as he is weaker guys can out power him while moving to get the ball. Save for when keuchly hugs them

Thomas Davis & Luke Keuchly combine for arguably the best pass coverage LB duo in the league though. Luke's big knock out of college was coverage if I remember correctly, so he's improved.

Meh, that's something he does have to improve on. This generation of tight ends is nearly impossible to cover anyways, too many damn basketball players.

We all know that you can't touch Brady. He's gonna get calls and if he doesn't he's going to whine until he does.

I'm going to be honest here though - I'm feeling pretty confident in this game. I expected a SF loss and NE win.

Could see something along the lines of 24-20 panthers

Can I get this week's lottery numbers too please? Thanks in advance!
