Tailgating Forbidden at Super Bowl

I haven't read the article but I read a few posts from you guys. I don't understand why you can't walk or get dropped off at the stadium. There has to be more to it. What if you plan drink and want to do the right thing by not driving? That doesn't make any sense at all.

I agree they should have a drop off. I wonder if other Superbowls had an easy drop off.

I know some have taxi stands.

If you have ever been to Giant's stadium it is not a place anyone walks to.

It's normal tailgating during the regular season. They have a huge lot around the stadium

Correct. And the tailgating there is absolutely great.

Now that I think about it, I am wondering if they are trying to discourage all the Giants fans from simply showing up with their gear to tailgate while having no intention of going to the game.

Well the networks actually get this right?

PPV would be a mechanism to move this money to the NFL right?

But I agree it isn't happening anyway.

Yea they are, but they pay the NFL billions per year for the opportunity to sell that time. The NFL would probably prefer making loads of money this way because they know much of their fan base are plebs and will boycott the league if they have to directly pay out of pocket to watch the game in February.

Wouldn't surprise me if that had something to do with it. It also wouldn't surprise me if all those NY DBs should up to tailgate if they were allowed.

Is pay per view really that outlandish? When you get your cable bill there is already a big mark up for the sports channels whether you watch them or not. Every college football conference has their own network that doesn't come with a standard cable plan. Texas has a network just for their school. The Yankees have their own network. The NFL has their own network with Thursday games, usually on a higher tier of cable. People all over the country pay for a directv Sunday ticket for access to all of the games (on Sundays 1 and 4pm starts only). The Redzone Channel is a pay channel. The NFL is easing us into it before you know it we will wake up one day and realize we've been getting fuged for years.

Obviously there are some downsides to this. Some people just won't pay and their children will grow up without the NFL. The Networks would be cut out of the picture and congress may even get involved. So it's not a slam dunk. But there are tons of people around the world and in the US that already pay to watch their favorite team. Look for it to expand over time.

Forget about setting up those kegs or buffet tables in the parking lot before this season's Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium. There will be no tailgating, according to the game's committee CEO, Al Kelly.

"You will be allowed to have food in your car and have drink in your car," Kelly said. "And provided you're in the boundaries of a single parking space, you'll be able to eat or drink right next to your car. However, you're not going to be able to take out a lounge chair, you're not going to be able to take out a grill, and you're not going to be able to take up more than one parking space. And it'll all be watched very carefully."

Are you fugging kidding me?!?!?

Attending a Super Bowl is not only expensive but vastly overrated. I paid mega bucks to attend Super Bowl XXXV111 in Houston when the Panthers lost to the Patriots. However,i have mixed emotions about  attending another one, even if the Panthers are in it.

I disagree, but maybe it was because the SBs I went to didn't have my team playing in it.  I think it's an awesome production and celebration of the two greatest teams in the world's greatest game,
